I can sort of understand and condone what Hasbro does trying to put myself in the POV of a child. The figures you see warming pegs are the 4-Lom's and the obscure bounty hunters and such of the Star Wars universe but you don't see a lot of Luke and Han and Vader sitting on the shelves, so I understand the idea of wanting to overproduce them so that kids can get the characters they want.

Bah. Most kids don't care about having a gazillion Lukes either. That's a Hasbro myth.

Okay, so Hasbro sems to be doing really well with the license right now! Well enough to be releasing some pretty big, intricate stuff like the new Falcon and the EpII troop thingy....so WHERE'S MY SUPER-DUPER JABBA THE HUTT W/THRONE?
Granted, at this point, I'm just gonna stick with me SS version, but still...

Hey, I'm right with ya Mikey, I have and love the SSC Jabba and throne, but it is an element lacking in my Hasbro collection. To this day, the 1983 Jabba and throne are there best Jabba effort, I'd love to see them match it or better it with their current technology.

hasbro is definitely getting better with the license. I think that they are actually trying to bridge the gap between selling toys for kids, and selling to collectors. So I gotta say I'm happy with this fig.

on the flip side If sidewshow makes one, you guys know there will infinite debate on whether or not it's worth the price , that ends with half of the people here deciding to wait and see if hot toys makes one, Because in their opinion it will be better.

Since I don't really care about Hasbro's stuff or 3.75" scaled items anymore, I think I am more than good with Sideshow's 1/6 Jabba and Throne.

That thing is pretty great looking, Rancor has always been a personal favorite of mine... love the vintage one :rock

Funny thing, my dad got me a vintage one when I was like 13 from a dealer and he must have acquired it through a flea market or something, it was played with, and it rattled when I got it and one day I could see something inside and I pulled it out, it was a blue Batman cape, apparently the Dark Knight was no match for the might Rancor :lol

Here are some of the better pictures from RS' TF coverage.

I kinda like the blue coloring, maybe it's more of a natural body pattern like tiger stripes rather then paint.
I had the vintage as a kid and loved it, so I'd love a updated Rancor Pitt version a bit more then this one.

From summer to winter of 1983 my folks bought me the Rancor, Jabba's Throne and Jedi Luke. As much as I liked Luke vs the Rancor the battle that it always came down to was the Rancor vs Yoda. How many people here lost their Yoda in the mouth of the Rancor?

Besides the war paint I love this figure. Unfortunately I am not into the smaller figures anymore but wouldn't that be a cool battle - the Rancor vs all of your COBRA troops? This is one rare case were I wish I was still a kid because this Rancor looks great.
