They really go for the down and dirty. The word that comes to mind for the French dinner scene is "grotesque" and the director and Giamatti did an excellent job of conveying that sentiment to the audience.

It's also a great character point that they show that both John and Abigail had opportunities to cheat - and you get the impression that John considered it, but Abigail wouldn't even entertain the idea that John cheating was a possibility.

Haven't watched any of it yet, but I just wanted to know how historically accurate is it?

I've seen some other shows like it that sugar coat it towards the main protagonist of the story, but if it's historically accurate I'll catch up with it this week.

I believe it's historically accurate to a fault. Most biopics would make the main character more proactive - but John Adams is an ineffective ambassador because he can't be politic. This may be an admirable trait, but as a founding father it doesn't paint him in a completely positive light.

Yeah it was interesting how the third episode was him pretty much screwing up and feeling like crap. Kind of a tense, bummer of an episode. But still really good.

Yeah, it wasn't the normal episode you'd expect to see now was it? I liked that part though as it allows you to see him more human or as human as he might have been.

This last episode when Adams became president was my favorite so far I believe. Great production, great writing and acting. A brisk pace with good balance between country issues and family issues. Good stuff.

Next weeks looks to be quite awesome indeed. This weeks show I think showed that this guy knew how to get himself into trouble more than getting out of it.

Good show. While I expect it to have its inaccuracies, it is the most realistic depiction of the era I've ever seen. The high production values are not over-done either, and that helps.

Washington and Ben Franklin are awesome. :rock

How accurate are the props, and mannerisms? Any anachronisms?

You have to give props to the producers for casting Giamatti in the lead role to begin with. He certainly is not your conventional leading man in either looks, voice or style. But he is excellent in this role.

Man this show is good! Only one episode left.

Love what a stuborn old man Adams was. He does not care what anyone thinks. I don't know why more schools are named after him. Most schools are named Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson...

I know that this series is seen through Adam's eyes but I wish we could have seen Franklin/Washington's deaths.

I know A.Hamilton invented the National Bank but... There seems to be far more worthy people to be on our $10 bill.

Also, HBO is showing way too much in their previews for the following week's episode.

Those are my random thoughts for tonight.

Yeah, great series. I love how it shows Adams for his great things and his faults equally. That he was Human and trying to do what he "actually" felt was right unlike today's politician. Hamilton was a douche bag and I agree there has to be someone more worthy to be on the $10 bill.

Last one is on tonight. I have really enjoyed this show and look forward to a second viewing.

I really love HBO's original programming. But I am really annoyed that for the next 3 sundays HBO will not be airing any original programs. I pay for HBO only for their shows... not the movies.

Great finale, but man is it a downer... but I guess its kinda hard not to be when you have a episode about a persons final days.

Great series and a great ending. Really gave me a new insight to Adams and what he went through.

How freaky is that Jefferson and Adams died on the same day - the 50th anniversary of the Declaration?

I would agree that it was a bit slow going, I would have liked to see more of the politics and less of the home life. But it's the kind of thing that the Academy loves - Emmys all 'round!
