I too am bummed that Rome is ending. Last Sunday's episode was VERY fast paced. I wish that HBO would have done one more season. It would have been cool to see Pollo live with the girl who killed his wife before she confessed.

This show is absolutly amazing and I can't wait to see the final episode this Sunday.

HBO missed out on alot of potential all the way around.

Considering how much crap is on tv, it's really a shame to see Rome end.

The scene where Pullo dumped Gaia's dead body in the water was powerful.

yes it was. love this show....such a shame it's leaving us.

Loved this show. I usually think the shows HBO makes are just not that great but this one was awesome. This though captured me from the first show most of it due to my love of history. I can't wait for this to come out on DVD Season 2 that is so I can watch it from the start all over again.

I am extremely upset to hear that Rome will not come back for another season. It is one of the best written and compelling shows on television, cable or network. The thing about these great cable shows is that they do not last that long. Even if Rome made it to 5 seasons it still would not be enough because of the deep characters that came along in Roman history. We'd want more, More, MORE!!! Beside Marc Antony, Julius Ceasar, Atia and Servilia we have been graced by 2 of the most memorable Roman Centurions of all time:
Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo

Hopefully fan reaction will cause HBO to bring it back in some capacity, maybe a movie.

The final episode was amazing... But yes, they could do so much more if it kept going. I think having only two seasons makes me appreciate it all the more. I will really miss Rome.

...And I loved Pullo's very last line.

Me too.. I liked it alot but it somehow left me feeling... I dunno... hollow? unsatisfied? Not sure what the right word is.

I also was expecting a wee historical note about Rome after Octavian's rule. It painted Octavian as cold and cruel but neglected to state that his rule started the friggin' PAX ROMANA. Next to Jesus Christ, he was probably the biggest influence on the modern world, IMO. I would like to have seen that conveyed somehow.

Ah but there it is.... ;)

I agree that the last episode left a little bit to be desired as far as the battle between Octavian and Anthony. I also would have liked a little to be explained how Rome was under Octavian's rule if there would obviously be no more seasons after this.

I wasn't unsatisfied with the ending at all. I was just sad that it ended. Maybe people who want to learn more about what happens afterwards will actually pick up a book and read about it. What an novel idea! :D

Of course I know what happens. Being a history buff I've read on it in the past but I would loved to have seen it play out on screen. :)

I didn't mean you specifically, Josh. I just meant it would be nice if Rome actually inspired people to read more about its history. It seems like reading is too difficult for a lot of people who want their answers from TV.

And yes, if Rome went on for a few more seasons, I'd be very happy.

I'm very disheartened that it's over... with so much crap cloggin' the airwaves it's a shame when an engaging and stimulating show is LOST (hint hint... pick it up folks).

I know. I was just saying for the sake of discussion sorry. :)

You got that right. LOST is lost and going nowhere fast.

Tonight I finally had the chance to sit down and watch the final episode. I think this is probably one of the best shows of ALL TIME. My only complaint is how rushed the last 3 episodes were. The show was jumping months and years between scenes. All of the Egyptian conflict could have been put into a third season. If HBO truely needed to end the show because of $ then they should have at least given us 12-13 episodes.

Overall, this show was amazing and I encourage all history, epic, or hbo fans to check it out.

Ok, resurrecting this thread due to this awesome news!!!

HBO’s ‘Rome’ Movie Still Marching Forward

Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that a movie based on HBO’s Rome series is indeed underway. We brought you word almost a year ago that a Rome movie is in the works, and now EW has some early details to share.

As reported in 2009 Bruno Heller, who wrote and executive produced the series, is writing the movie script as well; the film will be produced by Morning Light Productions.

The only question that remains is which epoch of Rome will the movie focus on and which cast members will be featured on the big screen?

According to EW:

Series stars Kevin McKidd (Lucius Vorenus) and Ray Stevenson (Titus Pullo) will likely sign onto the movie, which picks up in Germany four years after the series ended. The next step for Morning Light is to find a director and a studio, since HBO Films won’t be involved.

Interesting, that last part about HBO Films not being involved with the project. People tend to associate the name “HBO Films” with quality, so hearing that this Rome movie won’t be waving that banner might make some fans a bit leery. No worries though: if the principal cast and the original writer are all coming back, I have faith.

The only thing to do is figure out how to handle Vorenus: last we saw he was seemingly on his death bead, so hearing that Kevin McKidd will return to reprise the role is kind of funny (McKidd himself spoke on that subject recently).

For now, all is well – I am happy to hear that Rome will be returning to the screen, bigger and (hopefully) better than ever.

No word yet on a release date.

If both of the main characters are involved as well as bruno I have total faith. Bring it on it should not have ended as early as it did.
