OMMMMFGGGG THE TEASER LOOKED SO GOOD!!!

It looks so faithful to the game!!! Im beyond excited. It seems like the Home Alone mom may potentially be playing Joels love interest? i remember they had a love interest for him in the game at one point but was ultimately cut. I don’t believe she is just his therapist.

Personally, I wish McConaughey had made his return to HBO with the Joel part. It would have been interesting to see him in a role like this.

Who they cast as Ellie was pretty much the only thing I didn't like about the show. I'm sure that she's a great actress but she's not a good fit for this particular character.
Exactly how I feel about her as well. While she seems like a good actress, her Ellie just ain't it.
And that Season 2 trailer just feels odd, Bella literally hasn't hasn't aged a day since the first season. She still looks like a child. lol
It would've brought back some of my interest in the series if they had cast Cailee Spaeny for Season 2 at least.

I finally got around to replaying the Remake, I had forgotten a lot of details from when I first played it. I think I'm starting to understand now why everyone despises Part II so much.

The fancasts of that Lannister guy and Elliot page and “the last chromosome” posts really get on my nerve (not here but on FB mainly). It’s all that anyone ever talks about. I agree, she’s ugly, she’s a good actress but doesn’t look or fit the part for adult Ellie. But at some point we just gotta accept and move on. There’s more interesting things to discuss. 🤷🏻

Hey! Not everyone. The small loud minority that’s maybe 30% of the fanbase

I wouldn't say "despise"... but it was definitely a weird game to play... It was the first game ever that I didn't wanna continue playing. And not because it was too hard or too stupid for me to continue... but because it forced me to do things that I absolutely did NOT want to do... it made me angry that I didn't have a choice in any of it and it was weird... never felt that way ever in my entire video game history and I've played many games... And I don't mind leaving my comfort zone with games, I don't mind that at all. But the last third of the game was not enjoyable for me to play. I just felt stupid and kinda annoyed constantly asking myself "Why do I have to do this?!?"
But the graphics and the game mechanics were awesome. The characters were great. I can live with the choices the characters make and the actions they are taking... but it was like you have this "good friend" that you've spent a lot of time with and all of a sudden you find yourself on the other side and not by choice and now you have to try and kill your own friend or you can't continue your game. Just plain weird... and not enjoyable at all to play. Even though I do get that there are always two sides to every story and it's not all just black and white and it was good storytelling highlighting all that. Just not enjoyable to play for me personally. Weird, I'm telling you... :dunno

30%?? I dunno man, I think it might be higher than that from what I've seen and read online. But you're right, it's been discussed to death by now.

I'm actually more curious to see how they're going to handle Abby's parts in the series. To me she had some of the more memorable horror moments/gameplay (infected skyscraper anyone?). And even more memorable for all the wrong reasons, the hospital with the Rat king. I feel sorry for Abby's actress, she'll be scarred for life. lol

I think the remaster is an indicator that atleast half the people who played it liked it. Everyone with internet knows how the story goes by now, joel dies, abby is a main character yada yada. Despite the hate train the full price remaster is a massive success. And the game kept selling really well from 2020 to now in general. The game is controversial for sure but I refuse to believe around half or more of the people who played it disliked it. Nowadays I see more people saying it was a masterpiece but with the show coming up the people who despise it are getting louder again. So its hard to say.

The show isn't really for fans of the games anyway, it's to introduce the story to people that don't play video games. That's the target audience.
Theyre adapting the same exact story tho. Seemingly beat for beat if it follows part 1s example and judging by the trailers.

Of course the experience will be very different as youre not playing it yourself. But i doubt the story is going to be received differently.

Yeah but general audiences aren’t gonna be crying online that Ellie doesn’t look like she does in the game. They don’t care and the studio doesn’t care either.

It’s a pointless discourse at this point, can’t be changed. Yeah there are people that looked closer to the game version but she performed the role well imo and there’s a reason they chose her.
