Cersei shouldn't be locked up just for sleeping with her cousin, he also poisoned Robert for her when they went out hunting didn't he? Surely he's also divulged that information?
Robert wasn't poisoned. Lancel kept encouraging him to drink and things just worked out for Cersei that the boar got the best of him. I think in regards to the High Sparrow, he'd be inclined to believe that Cersei was primarily responsible since Lancel was but a lad at the time and presumably easily manipulated.

One thing I'm surprised no-one's mentioned is Stannis' choice on whether to sacrifice his daughter (guessing burned alive...). Even with all the talk for ages now of the importance of king's blood, I was not expecting that to be an option. I suppose story wise, he basically has to do it but what a grim end for her. The sick mother looks like she'd get a kick out of it, though. :(

Unlike Walking Dead, which is a totally different show in season 1, it feels like season 1 could naturally have worked as a season 4 or 5, starting after all the other nastiness went on prior to the opening scene with the White Walkers.

Agreed.

I did a re-watch in preparation for Season 5 and Season 1 felt like I was watching flashback episodes in a current season as opposed to actual earlier episodes.

I'm so glad the show has picked up this season with the last two episodes, it was quite a boring first half. The next few look to be quite good

Good. That is the most boring story line of the whole show.

It was also the weirdest and most polarising. I completely turned off as soon as I saw the tree man

Hard to believe Dany and Tyrion haven't even met in the books yet. Martin really likes to stretch the storylines out. Glad the show has taken another route.

The Bran storyline was one of the best last season IMO.
Yeah, I like his story and companions a lot, too. Looking forward to him warging one of Daenarys' dragons, as they've heavily aluded to.

I'm glad I'm reading the books but prefer how the show has streamlined the story. I miss a few things, here and there, but overall the showrunners have used excellent judgement.

Great episode. The ending was killer, and while expected, still got an "oh ****" reaction. My girlfriend couldn't be happier, as she knows I have a "crush" on Cersei LOL.

Glad to see Ser Jorah kick some ass, like a got-damn pro too, just walking out and mopping up. Loved seeing Tyrion go all Pesci on that guy at the slave selling.
Likewise was good seeing Sam stand up for his lady.

Definitely off the rails as far as the books go for some of these characters. I like where it's heading and much faster than Martin can tell the story.

TWD will go on and on b/c it practically writes itself (and I think the show runners already said they're hoping for 14+ seasons from it). I enjoy watching it but it's a B level show while GoT is AAA, IMO. I'd be happy if we got 2 or max 3 more seasons from GoT. That should be enough time to wrap everything up convincingly.

:lol:lol:lol TWD even in this thread brings it down a couple stars......Not even in the same class, not even close. I quit watching it back shortly after the farm season and left the thread never to return......just saying..:lecture:lecture

each to his own though....:dunno

I guess because they're the most popular geek shows out there at the moment. But I'm with Invictus. Seems like GOT is meant to follow Martin's storyline, and that he has a pretty clear ending in mind for the show. I suspect it will still be hugely popular by that point, but an ending will come. Walking Dead could conceivably just keep on going for ages. And even if the ratings dropped dramatically, it would probably still be one of the most popular shows on TV, so I'm sure there would be the will to keep pumping them out.

I'm just about done with it and I've been watching since season 1
