Question about last night's episode...

what the hell was the "rumor" that Qyburn was referring to when he was speaking with Cersei? I can't remember them talking about anything previously...

I think Stanis needed a death scene, assuming he is dead. Blackfish was fine with me. I wasn't very invested in him on the show.

I'm of the opposite mind. For me, I feel there was some closure with Stannis. We knew he survived the initial assault by Ramsey. We see him hobbling, obviously wounded, and fighting off two Bolton men. Then Brienne finds him, and fulfills her duty.

We could at least had a scene where the Blackfish was surrounded by Lannister soldiers and then a corresponding death scream. Hell, Syrio Florel got his death scream :lol.

I'm starting to think that they are going with off screen deaths just in case the writers change their minds later.:lol

This season has been OK IMO. There's been some great moments but also some parts that seem forced or thrown in. It seems to me that if there's only a season or two left that they'd want to start narrowing the overall focus a bit.

The writing has been poor and this episode was ridiculously boring. I hope the next 2 are better.

Regarding the Blackfish's death, I actually like how it was handled on one level. It felt inevitable when Brienne leaves. We find out about it when Jaimie does, in a quiet moment. Jaimie seemed to have plans of humiliating the Blackfish for his belligerence, but his face showed some disappointed about the way it all had to play out. He had some respect for the Blackfish I'm sure, and was probably a bit saddened that he had to die. That scene has more weight with the audience not yet knowing what happens to the Blackfish with certainty.

As far as the impending battle in the North, I’m assuming the forces from the Eyrie (remember the note that Sansa penned in secret?) arrive to turn the tide of battle.
Ah yes, I bet that is what turns the tide. Though wouldn't it be a kick in the balls if they show up, and join forces with the Boltons, just annihilating Jon's army at the last minute :lol

For some reason this show tends to shy away from on screen violence. Don't get me wrong, there have been plenty of stabbings and beheading and head popping's on the show. But tonight's FrankenMountain head rip Mortal Kombat fatality would have been shown in its full bloody glory on Walking Dead 99% of the time. GoT would rather show gratuitous ****s than have an on screen death. I too am suspicious of off camera deaths. The Hound turned out to be alive 2 seasons later, why not Stanis or the Blackfish? So whenever they don't show an important character (ie they've been given a name) get killed on screen, its always curious. Was it for budgetary reasons? Artistic reasons? Episode length reasons? Or sneaky storytelling reasons? I mean, if he's going to be dead, show us a death scene or his corpse at least and be done with it. At least we got Nobody Girl's face on a wall tonight.

And I for one, am thankful for that! :yess:
****s>Beheadings :pfft:

:lol

Yeah, in an episode where Cersei proclaims that she chooses violence, we didn't get all that much of it. I think we'll get plenty in the next two though. :lol

While it's possible that the Blackfish is still alive, didn't a Lannister flunky tell Jaime he was dead? Why would he lie?

Just watched it. So ehhhh...what the ****? How was Arya suddenly able to beat the other girl? And after reopening her stomach wound and damn near breaking her own legs in her effort to run away. You don't set up a desperate situation like that and not show how the hell she got out of it. Did I blink at the wrong time or something?

Yeah, ironic that the Waif unwittingly contributed to her own demise. She got her jollies from beating up on a blind Arya, all the while training Arya to fight blind.

2x decaptitation
1x throat slit
1x axe to chest
1x axe to crotch
3x hanging
1x pimp slap
1x pinky in the stinky/ "shocker"

That's not too shabby. :dunno
And I feel like you get a bonus point for even mentioning catapulting a toddler.:horror

Actually, I didn't have a problem with that, she did learn how to fight blinded after all. She had the upper hand.

What upper hand? When?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in all those training sessions she kicked the ***t out of Arya each and every time :dunno We never saw evidence that Arya was learning from her to a point of being able to beat her under any circumstances let alone after having been stabbed in the gut and her legs almost incapacitated after a series of high jumps and falls.

Everything pointed to Arya getting killed by her in that dungeon place...cut to yer man finding the Waif's face on the wall. What? Just bizarre.

Correct.

While I have to assume we're meant to conclude Arya has the advantage in the dark, they never gave us any indication of this. IMO they should have at least thrown a line at it - "do you think I learned nothing from all those beatings" or some such. But it's not a dealbreaker for me.

I forgot about the detail where Arya extinguishes the light in the room - right so the idea is that Arya was more accustomed to fighting blind than the Waif was - still a bit of a stretch if you ask me, considering Arya's injuries by that point. She could barely walk.
