I'm not sure that an afterlife, barring an undead one, would be in the spirit of Martin's stories. But, for the showrunners, it would make as much sense as anything else!

Somehow I doubt Benioff and Weiss will prove to be the worst thing that ever happened to Star Wars. I am unconcerned.
The worst thing that happened to Star Wars was its popularity. Like everything else, popularity smothers genius.

Oh... symbolism and history as a crutch instead of good storytelling. OK.
