I’m not sure how they could have ended the series in a manner that would have satisfied every fan of Game of Thrones.

I’ve watched the series from the beginning and am sad to see it end. While the final season may not have been as satisfying as what came before, for my money GOT has been the best series in the history of television.

The only nitpick I had with the finale was Maester Samwell bringing out the “A Song of Ice and Fire” book at the Small Council meeting. Thanks guys, we already saw that at the end of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

Cersei's demise was my biggest disappointment.

Part of the grab of this series was the horrible deaths -- both the deliciously cruel ways the villains died and the surprising and sometimes infuriating ways the hero characters died. Neither of which happened in Season 8.

Awesome after awesome. Prefer to have a council instead of Bran but it is all well. Happy ending is relative. Arya gets to explore, Sansa gets to be queen of north, Jon return to explore the north and aid wildings, Tyrion, Samwell, Bronn, Davos, Brienne, etc..

Shame we never got more Mad Dany - just as I came around to liking her. Failure in good direction resulted in what felt like a very, very underwhelming and flat death. Apart from that I liked most of the character's endings.

Brienne inking Jamie's story and Jon returning to where he felt at most home but now with no obligation to return were standouts to me.

Can't help feel a bit of melancholy at the ending of the show. Lucky we've got the unfinished books left.

With Marvel and GoT now wrapped up, it's Star Wars' turn... :slap

I'm most interested in how the book gets to this same ending, with having fleshed out characters and whatnot.

I think all the endings made sense. Obviously it wasn't the ending I wanted, but I think it's been said for a long time now that it would be bittersweet. So no real surprises, but I'm just looking forward to 'the real ending'

I basically hated everything that came after the death of the night king. This finale just felt akward and out of place for me. I wanted to feel more emotion at the end.

The meeting where the king was chosen bothered me. Tyrion was a mute prisoner, yet somehow managed to take over the floor(and go from a death sentence to hand of the king)? No objections from anyone to a Stark being King of the Realm AND Sansa declaring the Starks as independent and herself Queen of the North?

Jon going north of the wall is satisfying enough I suppose, but nobody at the meeting even mentions that he is rightful king? Or his past deeds that reinforce his claim? Not believable that Arya would have allowed Sansa to agree to any deal detrimental to Jon in any way.

yea, I didn't mind what the final end was for Jon, but the way we got there was not fluid and unsatisfying. I would've rather seen Arya kill Dany; Jon takes the fall and flees with the wildlings into exile. How did they completely skip over the fact that Sansa started all this and betrayed Jon from the get go, yet he wasn't angry at all with her? I was really wanting to see some shred of evidence that the WW's still existed and would've been a threat much further into the future again.

Loved the ending. Kind of left it open. Was Jon leaving his post on the watch to live with the Wildlings or was he on a escort mission? In a way he was returning to the land of his love ( and real wife). I’d be scared to have three eye raven as a king!! I wonder if the realm of men will conspire on the fact that there’s a Stark king in the south, stark queen in the north and the true king further north!!

I really enjoyed it and I had to get up in the middle of the night to watch. It was worth the missed sleep.

Had problems with the narrative all season long (not enough time, implausible leaps etc.) -- but I'm satisfied enough with the wrap-up.

I wonder why Drogon didn't kill Jon? Because he was Targaryen? Because Drogon didn't realize Jon killed her?

And I wonder why he melted the throne.

The Throne caused her death.

Bittersweet is right.
Overall happy with the ending.
I knew they’d have that scene with Brienne writing Ser Jaime Lannister’s legacy in that book.
Also kinda thought that last line would be “...and father to the child of Ser Brienne of Tarth.”
Thought Arya would be the Spymaster for sure.
Dany never did sit on the Iron Throne.
Im sure Martin will give more insight into why Drogon did what he did. But remember that episode where Tyrion was musing about dragons to Varys and some thought dragons were wise and as intelligent as people and not savage beasts? I think dragons are “subservient” to strong willed Targaryens. But at the least I think Drogon didn’t want anyone else to have it either and that it was her drive for it that got her killed.
Did Drogon take her east to Valeria? I guess Bran will know eventually.
All the those theories about Bran...

If Hollywood were in charge they’d be demanding sequels right now bringing back Dany as the Nights Queen.

Finally,
That image of Dany walking toward the camera with Drogons wings unfolding and spreading behind her was extremely powerful and sealed the deal symbolically that she was too far gone sadly.

So what is even the purpose of the wall anymore? Now that the white walkers are gone and the free folk have made peace with the nights watch, it's essentially some wierd combination of prison and gateway to another kingdom. What are they even going to do there all day?

Also, where did new Kings Landing come from in the end?

Only reason I can muster is that it's still a holding place or gulag for bastards and broken things.

Just checked eBay and wow. Thought it would've gone down with the 2.0 but I guess there's a re-surged market for it now with the ending.
