Freaked Out
My problem is this: why would Bran reveal Jon's true identity if he knew he was going to eventually lead anyway?
To lead to Dany's downfall? Being related to Dany so there would be no marriage between them? Jon being Aegon just seemed like a red herring in the end.My problem is this: why would Bran reveal Jon's true identity if he knew he was going to eventually lead anyway?
Well, Euron and his forces were destroyed, leaving a power vacuum. Yara most likely took back what was hers.Yea, ultimately Jon's true parentage meant absolutely nothing.
Also why is Yara the head of the Iron Islands at the end? Last time we saw the Iron Islands Euron was king and Yara/Theon were basically fugitives. How does Euron being killed suddenly make her queen?
I never read any spoilers. I was bracing myself for the worst.
Instead, we got a happier ending than I ever thought possible. I loved it. I can't help it. I've grown to love these characters over the 8 or 9 years, and I didn't want to see them die in any more "shocking" twist death scenes.
Yes, the shot of Daenerys in full Nazi stormtrooper gear with those giant devil wings spread behind her was a really, really cool shot. But I felt like her character was ruined seasons ago, so I was glad that she was the only casualty this episode. I thought for sure they'd drag out another big battle just to kill beloved supporting characters like Davos and Bronn and Podric, just for the shock value. I breathed a sigh of relief that they all lived...hell, even Grey Worm lived, but he's never gonna find another hot piece like Missandei.
And all those people that whined about Jon not "hugging" Ghost can shut the hell up now...they live happily ever after.
My butthole was a little clenched though....I thought for sure at the very end, some random kid was gonna turn to the camera and flash blue White Walker eyes. Thank god they showed restraint and didn't end on the dumbest horror movie cliche ending possible.
And then the theme song played....with LYRICS! Come on...nobody got a little choked up hearing that? Knowing that this is IT? The last ever episode?
I'm just in awe of the happy ending. I'm sure Martin's ending would have been filled with a lot more death and heartbreak, but obviously we'll never know. They'll publish the books with a ghost writer after he dies, but he sure as hell is never finishing the story.
I guess some people wanted more blood? I've had enough death and destruction. I loved that it ended on such a happy note. Yeah, this season's been all over the place, but the ending totally worked for me.
Dani was the wheel.

Kind of have to make logical assumptions based on the information you have

Don't even care what the future books read. This good as it gets. Now time to go fishing again.

Great imagery, though not exactly subtle.
How did Grey Worm know Jon killed Dany, did he just admit it?
I'm sure they understood executing him could start (another) war, and they just fought 2 back to back battles. Not that that would stop the Dothraki.Could do a lot of critiquing and nitpicking of course, but the one thing that stands out for me is why Jon was allowed to live by Dany's fanatical followers after she died.
I can't imagine the Dothraki Berserkers and the Unsullied Killing Machine were all "Yeah, let's stick him in a cell and convene a meeting".
That's basically my stance on the show's ending as well.
