Cool, thanks. The $50 price decrease on Robb's sword is very nice.

Any other sites you'd recommend for the Valyrian Steel swords?

...Why is this show so popular??

As I read some written reviews and watch some clips on youtube, here is the positive I can gather:

-Very high production values. The television show has the same production values as a blockbuster Hollywood fantasy film in the early 2000's.
-Complex politics. Family are vying for the throne. Love and Betayal.
-Won a peabody award, I guess I can't argue with that.

But as a 26 year old heterosexual male, am I the only one that DOESN"T want to see graphic nudity and sex? I mean yes, a tall, fair, blonde hair, super model maiden may be the fantasy of every man, but seriously, it all sounds like cheap shock value. It sounds a little classless and tacky to me. I'm almost afraid to ask this, but I'm assuming there are some sort of barbarian invasion, and there is the inevitable mass rape scene??

This may be like comparing apples to oranges, but I'll draw from a VERY different medium. Compare the Dark Knight to Watchmen. The Dark knight was twisted, menacing, and had a freakish power to the entire film. Nobody uttered a single cuss/curse word the entire film. Nobody had their arms sawed off by a chainsaw. Nobody got raped over a pool table.

I just an awesome new blu ray and monitor set up, but I'm not sure whether I want to get into this one.

I love Game of Thrones -- it has a great story, great characters, beautiful sets/environments, awesome twists and great actors.

There is some nudity and sex, but it's not classless or tacky IMO.

It's not about the sex, it's about the story and characters to me. There's probably two scenes that I thought we're not necessary. Two scenes, in three seasons, 30 hours of quality tv. For that I can live with those scenes.

:lurking

The show is based on a series of books (five so far of the seven have been released)-- the first one coming out back in 1991. Like the books, the shows are meant for adults who understand that "shock value" storytelling has been around since the Greeks. Hey Oedipus, your new wife's hot.

:dunno It's not for everyone.

There are are afew things in the show which are not for me, but overall it's a great show with how the characters are interwoven, and the quality is outstanding

Bad examples, the nudity scenes almost every time serve a purpose, just like the violence in Watchmen.

If it sounds like cheap shock value to you, it's because you haven't seen it, and reading from your comment, I can tell you haven't, showcasing the consequences of a violent act without showing the violent act itself is hypocritical, the Dark knight returns needs no such graphics violence, so there's no point in comparing those 2, and even the most violent act on GoT is showed with a degree of touch and good taste, it's not just shock value.

It's a good story, great characters, and the production values are higher than an early 2000 movie, where did you get that from?

I recommend you watch it and draw your own conclusions.

Roy Dotrice is a great at reading those books. He was the pyromancer in the second season of the show. Thought that was cool they gave him a couple of cameos :rock
