360's fan is very noisy & would put me off watching a dvd :D

??? are you deaf?? i watch movies on my 360 all the time and the only times you hear the fan is when you pause the movie. and now that they have announced that the 360 will suppurt 1080i there isnt any reason why people shouldnt buy the HD upgrade. im just happy MS is supporting the system with upgrades and downloads. sure, if you buy all the add ons and accessories its close to what the PS3 costs... but if you are just looking for a system that plays games you really arent concerned with the HD upgrade anyways.

Now on its way to your favorite retailer! I have one coming through Amazon, and it's scheduled for delivery on Thursday. As a nice bonus, I will be able to watch HD King Kong earlier than its official street date of next Tuesday.

For more info, there's a nice little video interview HERE.

sweet tom! i'm on the fence on whether to get the hd-dvd drive yet. i may wait till i get a 1080P capable t.v. mine only does 1080i or 480p....no 720p.

Seeing that the players usually cost upwards of $500, I'm thrilled to be able to buy a HD DVD player for $200. I just bought a new Sony LCD last month and I can't wait to watch a flick in High Def.

I would like to have a setup with a HD tv and an Xbox 360 with the HD drive. But I really would like to have the capability to play the HD-DVD's on my PC so I'm thinking of just getting a good large LCD monitor (better than an LCD TV) and then an HD-DVD drive, but there isn't one out yet (although it looks promising) and so I don't know how much it would cost.

The Xbox HD-DVD drive will connect to your PC through the USB port. This has been confirmed--your computer will recognize the drive. What we don't have yet is software that will communicate with the drive and play the movie on your system--given time, however, I think that will surface. The important thing is that the detachable HD drive for the 360 will connect to your PC. There would also be a question about the system requirements and whether or not your sound and video cards are compatible, etc. But it's good to know that at least my PC will recognize the external optical drive.

did you pick up your drive yet tom?? i was at EB yesterday and saw that they came in. amazingly there were only 2 in the store and one of them was bought by the manager. it looks very sexy... im thinking about picking one up, but im not sure if the girlfriend will be getting me one or not.

:monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2 thats just my luck. i guess i will truly have to wait it out for one of the dual format players.

Just like the consoles, we now must choose what to get when it comes to exclusives. GRRR!!! Anyway, I read an article that a company has in fact created a technology that can make a player that can play both types of High Def DVD's. Fact is, since there is a WAR between the two formats right now, such a player will never be agreed upon by the companies that own the players.

The link above pushed me over the edge. I pulled the trigger and ordered one last night. Anyone here have one already that can give me a non-biased review? HAHA I guess it's really too late for that since the HD dvd player is on it's way. From those pictures I was amazed and I have to say I am really excited to finally be able to use my tv to it's fullest.

No problem, should be a little bit though because I ordered it through Amazon and used the free shipping option. Amazon said it was in stock but they said it usually takes 3-4 days to ship. I am super excited.

I am also happy to see that it comes with a remote, the controller idea to me was wearing thin.

What, if any, movies did you get? That's the only thing keeping me from getting one right now. Just no major movies out yet. V for Vendetta is the only one I'd get that's out so far.
