Not a bad sculpt but a bit animated imo.

Just sent payment for the teeth sculpt.

May give the Nancy 4.0 a repaint and put it on the Bank Robber suit, leaving these two sculpts for the purple coat and interrogation suits.

That looks really good and that news of John not painting the sleepy with teeth sculpt is kind of putting me off ordering it now as I was going to ask him to paint it for me.
I'll wait for your announcement for his special offer of the sculpt, paint and rooting.

It's a great deal, even better if you got V1 but still very good if it's your first purchase.
You'll see when he announce it.

My advice is to get money ready and be fast to order it.
I know I will be getting one myself.

I kinda want that Heise interrogation sculpt. Heck, I just want a good sculpt by Heise.

I'm second guessing the SeeArt sculpt. Not because I don't like it. But nothing I've seen has matched that first prototype that sold me.

I don't want to drop a grand on something I have doubts about.

My advice is to get two of the best sculpts
you can manage, one for purple coat, one for interrogation and leave it at that.
No need to rush this.

No need to chase every sculpt as they come along. Less is more, I don’t feel the need to obtain all three of this new sculpt, just pick your favorite from the lot if you have one and move on to the next sculpt that you may or may not like more.

Buying two of the same sculpt just slightly altered seems like a waste of funds to me, the character is so expressive, I don’t want two bodies and clothing dedicated to similar sculpts.

not in a rush to have it finished as I’m still awaiting the Interrogation sculpt from Heise which will hold me over a bit. Likely, it will either be Heise or myself who ultimately paints it. I’d really like to get Vito to hair one.

Nope, will look good. Some sculpts you can just see it. Yi Xie’s Penguin sculpt with the grin is unbelievable.

Will likely be sold out in a month also, so don’t think I have the luxury of waiting for the sample to be shown, unless I get Heise to show me it early which he’s done before.

You’re right, most likely will be sold out by the time Heise is ready. Would be a shame to miss it, especially if it turns out good.

Technically the "sleepy" V1 project is already over, you need to distinguish both the sculpture which is the actual project and the painting/rooting which is basic commissions.
So I think it's fair to start teasing the next projects.

I’m going to politely disagree. The sculpts & paint/rooting go hand in hand as part of the whole project in my opinion. If it was truly separate then mine would be scheduled & booked for particular month + yr like the any other basic commission. For example my laughing sculpt is scheduled/booked for June 2025.

My sleepy joker & everyone else’s are just whoever preordered 1st I guess maybe + plus juggling the commissions that were already booked before this project started. I have no date & no idea when he’s getting to mine. He could message me tomorrow and say good news starting yours now or may I not hear from him for another 2-3 months. I have no clue.

I’m not mad at him I just don’t agree with this one thing, which is teasing a very similar sculpt project before everyone/or at least most people got theirs is all.
(Hot toys Chrome Mando anyone lol just kidding)

I can only speak to how I felt seeing it that day is all. I like John a lot, work looks great & prices are great. Very polite and nice to communicate with.

I think it's pretty safe to say that the price is not final as it's not up for sale yet, I shared your feedback and the others to him, we'll see what he does with it..

For the sculpt he actually resculpted the mouth completely, and he did other touch-ups on the nose and the ears.

Ambrosial sold his last sculpt from the "laughing" penthouse scene more than 500$ while the actual price was closer to 300/350$ either because it was the last one or because he sold it to someone overseas, I'm not sure.
That's what I call a money grab or at the very least a bad mentality.

John is not like that, I've been talking to him for almost a year now and I believe that he's not doing this to make money and profit only.

I know you don't mean anything bad with your post but it still makes me a little sad to read that so I had to reply.

I know he did change certain things, but for the most part it's a reuse of an old sculpt. Personally I don't see the added $100 value despite how good it looks. I also know John isn't in this business just to make money and profit, that's been known for a while now. However it seems to me that he didn't expect his first project to take off like that and he saw how many people wanted his V1 sculpt after it sold out so he decided to reuse it. Then adding that extra $100 makes it seem like he's trying to profit off of the people that missed out on his V1.

I could be wrong though, these are just my assumptions. I don't talk to John so I don't know him personally like you do.

Who in their right mind would buy a sculpt for $500? That's pretty insane. I wouldn't buy anything of Ambrosial anymore just because of the fact he sold his sculpt to Hot Toys, which is completely ruined now. There's nothing unique about it anymore, I'd be pissed if I had done custom work on it.

Oh and if he does make 25 of them then it's a decrease in edition size because there's 35 units of the "Sleepy" V1 head.

True, I forgot he only sold 15 overseas.
