But he was crying the whole movie for all kinds of reasons. All full of self pity. I probably would have enjoyed it a heck of a lot more if not for Alfred.

He cried twice. Once when he realized that Bruce was on a path of self-destruction, and the only way he would ever stop it was of his own perogative, and again when he thought he was dead. People cry when the ones they love are in danger/dead.:dunno

Being an old school Iron Man fan, RDJ has made me think of this is Tony Stark now in the same way I used to expect Darrell Hammond sounded more like Bill Clinton than Bill Clinton himself if that makes any sense. Ledger was great for what he did, but when someone says Joker, I still think of older comics, etc..

Strange poll ... pitting a one-off villain against the central character of a franchise. It'd make more sense if you lined the poll up right ... Bale vs. RDJ. Cheadle vs. JGL. Ledger vs. whatever-not-all-that-memorable-villain-you-want-to-pick. Caine/Rachel vs. Paltrow. Etc.

For this poll ... Ledger was more unique and more memorable in a much shorter screen time, RDJ is more prolific and more consistent. Difficult to compare.

Ledger vs. Stane, since he's easily the most memorable of the 3. I personally think that Bale is a much more accomplished actor than RDJ, though. Whether he played Batman or not, that dude is always committed to his roles.

How many different roles do you figure RDJ will be remembered for by the masses when all is said and done? His forgettable Sherlock Holmes? The Chaplin that probably 10 boardies total have seen? I'm not saying Ledger was a better actor or anything, but really, folks know RDJ for Iron Man just as they know Ledger for Joker. Neither of these guys has a Gary Oldman type resume.

Did you forget that Ledger beat out RDJ for the Oscar ? RDJ was great in Tropic Thunder and other films. Ledger was an Auzzie Soap-star that was pretty good in Knight's Tale, awesome as Joker and that's it.

No one's gonna remember Tropic Thunder in the future, anymore than folks remember other pretty good comedies that come and go every year (your Hangovers or Spies Like Us or whatnot). The fact that you say "other films" instead of listing specifics reinforces my point. Yeah, RDJ has done good stuff. His Chaplin was brilliant. I think his role is Less Than Zero was also fantastic, though it's easy to see why in hindsight. But unless he has some other brilliant, mind-blowing role in the future, this is a guy who is going to be defined by Iron Man. Ledger also did Brokeback Mountain. Highly critically acclaimed, important to some film fans, but he's still always gonna be known as Joker because it overshadowed everything else.

Seriously? I thought it was quite the opposite of that. But I guess if you're comparing it to Michael Bay films or the Avengers or something, then yeah. Not a lot of explosions.

I guess interesting is subjective...watching grass grow and paint dry is interesting for some so...:dunno

Yep, that's exactly what I meant. I was comparing it to Bay and Avengers when I wrote that...way to be presumptuous, richard
