Yep, that's exactly what I meant. I was comparing it to Bay and Avengers when I wrote that...way to be presumptuous. . .
tsk tsk tsk. Inferring naughty language is a good way to get your hand slapped. And apologies if you were referring to Uwe Boll or whatever it is that you are into.

No one's gonna remember Tropic Thunder in the future, anymore than folks remember other pretty good comedies that come and go every year (your Hangovers or Spies Like Us or whatnot). The fact that you say "other films" instead of listing specifics reinforces my point. Yeah, RDJ has done good stuff. His Chaplin was brilliant. I think his role is Less Than Zero was also fantastic, though it's easy to see why in hindsight. But unless he has some other brilliant, mind-blowing role in the future, this is a guy who is going to be defined by Iron Man. Ledger also did Brokeback Mountain. Highly critically acclaimed, important to some film fans, but he's still always gonna be known as Joker because it overshadowed everything else.

most people don't remember Tropic Thunder now :lol

I will always think of Less Than Zero first when I think of RDJ. I'll think of Chaplin, Tropic Thunder, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Natural Born Killers and others before I think of him as Iron Man. I enjoyed the first Iron Man movie and Avengers...but Iron Man 2 was meh to me...and I doubt I will watch IM3 until it's on On Demand.

With Heath, it's his role as The Joker that I'll remember first. Perhaps because it was one of his last roles (I didn't care for that Imaginarium movie)...I don't know. But he really owned the Joker performance, imo. It was such a big departure from his previous roles which made it all the more impressive to me.

Heath wins, he was acting, RDJ just plays himself with more money
I agree. RDJ is a great Tony Stark, but I'm not sure it's because of his acting...but rather that's just how he is in real life. Or that's the only type of character he can play.

I recently watched Zodiac and noticed that RDJ's portrayal of a character was almost completely identical to his Tony Stark.

I feel the same way about Johnny Depp.

Heath Ledger on the other hand seemed to really make his characters stand out. They were unique to themselves. He actually put effort into his roles to become a different person.

It's weird, Chris Hemsworth reminds me of Ledger for some reason. Same mannerisms, same background, etc. etc.
