I think I made a wrong decision (because I pressed the wrong button!) and now I can't go back. If I choose to replay the chapter, does it alter the choices I've made in the past? Does the game revert to default decisions if I try to reload the game via the chapter selection menu?

For more detail, it was the 'On The Loose' chapter and...

the game gave me the option (as Ethan) to either kiss Madison or to not kiss her. I accidentally chose "don't kiss her" and she left.

Does this mean she is removed from the rest of the game completely?

Should I go back? I feel like she's important to how I want to play my story.

if anyone could answer this in a spoiler-free manner, that would be great).

She's important let's just say that, but does she dissapear? maybe, if you choose the right options, she becomes very, very important!

Oh, great. I might need to replay the game from the beginning then. I humored the thought of just letting this mistaken decision ride out, but it was because of my mindlessness that caused it and not my actual desired choice, so I'd feel weird about continuing on this route.

Thanks.

Got this today. Played it for about 30 mins before the opening credits come up and all I can say is WOW

Has anyone tried to download the Taxidermist content yet??? My code isn't working and I'm starting to get pissed. I'm really getting sick of this crap happening when I reserve stuff with Gamestop.

this is an email i got from amazon :

We're contacting you about your pre-order for "Heavy Rain." Due to a publisher delay, the "Heavy Rain Chronicles: Chapter 1 - The Taxidermist" content won't be available until March 4, 2010. Your code to access the "Heavy Rain Chronicles: Chapter 1 - The Taxidermist" content will be e-mailed to you on March 4, 2010.

i would assume its the same thing with the gamestop code.

on another note, has anyone any elses game get frozen? happened twice to me so far!

Beat the game tonight. I don't know how I feel about this game. It was rather boring to play yet the story was interesting. If that makes sense? It was so boring to play that I don't care what endings there are I won't play through it again. I wish they mixed their game play in with other types of games. But again the story was very interesting and kept me interested. I will trade it in or sell it. Hopefully they learn from being so one dimensional and come up with something great for their third title.

Definitely, if not for the story and graphics this game would be so crappy.

I guess those who said this was a boring game to play have little experience with adventure games? Heavy Rain, like Indigo Prophecy before it, is an adventure game at heart (i.e. Sam & Max, Monkey Island, Broken Sword, perhaps even the Myst games), and adventure games are casual and low-pressure with little reflex-based action -- though the latter is something Heavy Rain does have.

I guess in order to get the full enjoyment out of this title, one would need to go in with the right expectations.

Those who expected to shoot or punch things outside of contextual command presses would be disappointed.

Ummm you are wrong sir. I grew up playing games like Kings Quest and Space Quest. All of those Sierra titles to be honest. This was like a weak version of even anyone of those games. No puzzles just follow the button presses and the story advances. It has nothing to do with action. It has to do with how the game was done. They should have incorporated more.

Ah, I see. Now you've set the context. I understand what you mean, though I disagree that it is boring. Heavy Rain is more like a side-branch to those old school titles, more in line with titles like The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, and perhaps Shenmue (without the martial arts). I think an emphasis on too many inane puzzles would drag down the pacing of the narrative.

I guess my expectations were different compared to yours, being a fan of Indigo Prophecy and Omikron before it (Quantic Dream's previous games).

I haven't finished the game yet, but I like it so far, except that I anticipate its short length being an issue.

I thought Shenmue was far more engaging to play than this game. This game felt like being on rails the whole time with button presses. Shenmue had more IMO. If the story wasn't so good I would have been pissed. I felt like I watched a movie versus playing a game. That's all. I like a little more gameplay. By that I mean maybe add more problem solving and puzzles. If they did that it might have sat better with me.

Shenmue automatically loses points in my book for its story never being finished. And will never be. :(

Yeah that was a _____. LOL! What a disappointment. Have you ever gone back and played some of the Sierra titles? They are still great to this day IMO.

Yeah, but only the ones that I can play on my iPhone or DS. I don't know why but I just can't seem to sit in front of my pc and play old Sierra or LucasArts adventure games anymore. The last ones I played were Kings Quest 3 and Beneath a Steel Sky. Both were great.

I've been dabbling in more recent adventure titles like Syberia and japanese graphical adventure games like Hotel Dusk (on DS) and I think those are pretty good.

Adventure games are a dying breed, and as much as I had hoped Heavy Rain would keep the genre afloat, I don't know how much attention it will ultimately get.

There was an article in MSNBC's website and they interviewed the director. He said this game would be well received by critics and probably disregarded by gamers but that he wanted to tell a good story and bridge the gap between movie and film. I think he's close. VERY close. But they need a little more work IMO. And honestly they know it or he wouldn't have said that.

I will have to track down that interview. David Cage was really proud of Indigo Prophecy, and I'm sure he would express similar thoughts about Heavy Rain.

For their next game, I hope that they use more actors who can do a solid and convincing American accent (assuming that's the setting). Another nitpick I have with Heavy Rain are the spotty accents for some characters who are supposedly middle-American types.

Plasmid303, if I were you, I'd let it play out, she is important, but like they've said, the story is completely in your hands. Everything is in your hands. If you haven't already started over, don't let it get to you and see what happens. Besides, I made some screwy decisions because of tension, stress and fear. _____ happens and boy does it register with this game.
