Hi All

Have a few more custom to show you all the indy on horse back is the newest one I've done the rest are older dio's/figures and are 7" or 3-3/4". Getting back into 12" figures very slowly as the room factor is a problem so enjoy.

When I saw the indy w/horse I knew straight away that I wanted to do a diorama from ROTLA but wanted to see how the horse would look in a diorama. So with that in mind I decided to do this small vignette(diorama) with it to see how it would turn out before doing the bigger diorama I want to do.

And I couldn't think of anything better then doing a scene from TLC and also seeing Gentle Giants statue I knew that I would create this scene as I'm never going to buy there's as I knew I could have one on a smaller scale to save room.

I was very pleased with the way it turned out Hasbro has done a brillant job recreating a horse in 1/18 scale and with a little work a good horse became an excellent horse. Once I was happy with the way the horse and indy looked I sculpted both figures and painted them using Vallejo and Games Workshop paints.

RECIPE

1: The Indy figure and Horse are from Hasbro's Deluxe Indy w/hosre playset, they have both been superglued into postion and the gaps/joints puttied using Games Workshop Green Stuff.

2: All the horses straps are pieces of leather cut to size and glued inplace the buckles are either from Hasbro's horse cut and sanded or hand made using small wire.

The blanket is cloth cut to size and hand painted. The bedroll is again cloth wrapped up and glued inplace with small pieces of leather as straps. The rifle is from an old figure I had cut to size wrapped in cloth and glued under the blanket.

The tassles are small pieces of rope used in model ship building, 3 pieces have been tied together and then I gave them a frayed look by pulling them apart then painted them.

3: The base is from a $2 shop, the scenery is fine sand and kitty litter mixed together and glued inplace then once dry given numeruos washs to get the desired colour.

When I did the first Disney 7" Indiana Jones figure I knew that I had to do more customs of him and also do other bases to simulate the scenery they were in. So the first one of the rank is Indy in Desert outfit and a custom map room. I have also done a little conversion work to him to get better articulation in the arms(detials below). When the figure and base were done I used Vallejo, Repaer and GW paints to paint and drybrushed them to the desired look.

RECIPE

1: Figure - The figures arms and jacket were removed and then arms from a Angel figure were used as the arms have articultion which can swivel at the bicep area. The hands are from a 7" Artasylum Star Trek figure.

The turbin and robes are real cloth the robes were cut out and glued together using cloth glue, the turbin was done by using strips of the same cloth as the robes but were given a wash of Vallejo paint to make it more movie correct.

2: Base - With the base I used foamcore sheets and placed the original base that came with the figure and traced around it, I then cut out the base and sanded the edges. The buildings which aren't movie accurate I used marine foam I cut and sanded the desired look and glued them to the base.

Once the buildings dried I used a 3 part mix of plaster/fine sand/PVA-woodglue and mixed all the contents together and brushed the mix over the buildings. When the mix dried I painted and drybrushed using Vallejo paints to get the desired look.

3: Bag, Staff of Ra, Map and Tape Measure - The bag is from the figure and cut off the plastic strap and added real leather for the straps and the rubber buckle was cut from the plastic starp sanded and glued in place.

The Staff of Ra has been printed of the net downsized and glued onto some cardboard and then given a coat of Woodlands Scenics Realistic Water to give it that shine, it was then glued onto a skewer stick. The map and tape measure were taken from the net and down sized and printed off.

In keeping up with the 7" Indiana Jones diorama's I naturally thought that the class room would be a great addition to my collection, The diorama isn't 100% accurate I added parts from ROTLA such as the chalk board and other items and the rest of the items were added to suite my taste. As always once the diorama was completed I used Vallejo, Repaer and GW paints to paint and drybrushed them to the desired look.

As always once the diorama was completed I used Vallejo, Repaer and GW paints to paint and drybrushed them to the desired look.

RECIPE

1: Figure - The figure is agaian the Disney figure, I replaced his jacket with a suit jacket from a Angel Series figure. I cut and sanded down his collar and used cloth to make a new collar, tie and vest jacket. The chain is to show tha he has an old waist coat and the watch and the glasses are pieces of plasticard tubing and strips cut and snaded down to size.

2: Base - The base and bench were made using balsa wood and foamcore sheets, once cut all parts were then sanded and glued in place.

3: Artifacts - The artifacts are a mix of LOTR items, Star Trek items, Metal Figures from a gum ball machine, 1/72 scale figures and scratch made items. The maps and books were taken from the net and re-sized and printed off, the Gold Idol drwaings were drawn free hand as was the chalk board drawings.

The figure is again the 7" Disney Indiana Jones figure, the base is the first diorama I did I haven't made a diorama for this figure yet still wondering what to make. When the putty and sanding was done the figure was painted with Vallejo, Repaer and GW paints

RECIPE

1: Figure - The figure is again the Disney figure I removed the arms and jacket sections and replaced the right arm with a 7" Artasylum Mirror Universe Captain Kirk arm and the left arm is from a 7" Artasylum Battle Damage Kirk.

I used green stuff for the cuff section of the left arm, The whip damage on Indy's back and the torn left leg pants I used green stuff and just spread it over the area and pulled it apart to simulate ripped clothing.

2: Base - The base is from the first Indy diorama as I wanted to display him with something and I still haven't decided what diorama I'm going to do.

3: Whip, Bag and Sankara Stone - The whip you get with the figure is again very nice except you can't roll it so I cut off the whip section and the hand grip and added real leather to both ends. The bag I kept the rubber/plastic bag section and cut off the plastic strap and added real leather for the straps. The Sankara Stone is made using Games Workshops Green stuff two part putty it was let to dry and then painted.

I had a few of the Disney Indy bases and a Indy figure left over so I figured that I would make something out of them to display my growing 7 " collection. All items were painted and drybrushed using Vallejo and Reaper miniature paints.

RECIPE

1: Figure - The figure was repainted is another Disney Indy I repainted him using Vallejo and Reaper minaitures, I also wanted to give him gloves so I used a set from a 7" Artasylum Captain Archer (away team). I sanded down the excess ridges and drilled holes to fit them onto the figure.

2: Base - The base is two of the Disney bases, I cut about 10mm of the edges and glued them together then glued the bases to some foamcore sheet and cut and sanded the edges to the edge of the base.

With the columns I used one normal size one to the right side and cut another colums and attached that to make the left side taller, and the stone slabs were then added. The sarcoghagus and mummy are from a 12" GI-JOE figure, the torch's are from a Angel acton figure set I cut the tops down and added flams from a Marvel Fantastic 4 human torch figure. The canopic jar is from a Mummy figure and the artifact is from a 4" star trek figure and the jewel is from the Hasbro old Indy figure.

3: Whip, Bag and accessories - The bag I kept the rubber/plastic bag section and cut off the plastic strap and added real leather for the straps. I cut off the whip section and the hand grip and added real leather to both ends, The snakes are ffrom a two dollar shop repainted.

holy monkey......:google. wow.....i dont know where to begin. you have taken action figures and transformed them into a work of art. the figures themselves are impressive enough but the way you add the base and enviornment to them give them a heavier & solid look as in a polystone diorama. outstanding all the way around ron. bravo.

Agreed on ALL points. I was literally open mouthed, jaw dropped after looking at these... no joke. OUTSTANDING work, especially at that scale. I am simply shocked at how damn nice it all looks. The Dioramas are perfect... especially the School desk and chalkboard, I am stunned man. INSANE work. :whip

The Josh - Always good to hear from you J and cheers buddy and I just started posting yesterday never knew the forum was here.

Well, I'm glad you're posting here and sharing your work here. ST and SSF are better because of it.

Hi All

Here are some more SW figures enjoy and comments welcome.

I've always wanted to do a Hoth Luke so when the Hasbro VOTC X-Wing came out I new it would be the perfect figure for the job as it has great articulation and makes for better poses. Once I got the desired pose I started using GW's green stuff to start making the jacket he wore in the movie.

Once the green stuff dried I painted him using Vallejo and GW paints using washes, drybrushing and normal painting technics to get the desired look.

RECIPE

Body and Helmet- The body andhelmet are from Hasbro's VOTC Series X-Wing Luke, I used GW's greenstuff to add the padding and extra jackets parts.

Boots - The boots are from the Hasbro VOTC Bespin Luke.

Gloves - The gloves are from Hasbro's SAGA AT-AT Driver.

Head - The head are from the Hasbro VOTC Bespin Luke.

Equipment - The blaster and saber are from the VOTC X-Wing Luke, the Grappling gun and Grenade are scratch built using parts from the bits box.

Base - The base is from a Marvel legends figure it has been covered in plaster then pianted using GW Codex Grey and then drybrushed with Vallejo's Pure White. After the piant dried I smeared woodglue/PVA over it and then covered it using palster of paris to get the snow affect, the whole figure was then sprayed with testor's dull coate.

I want to make mini diorama's of all the bounty hunters that were on the Imperial Starship from Empire Strikes Back, but wanted them in different sceneries.
So Bossk was first of the ramp, I've done Bossk in a scene which depicts him stuck on top of a small cliff/revine with no way to escape(or is there).

RECIPE

Bossk - is from the Habro new vintage figures, once I got the pose I wanted I superglued his joints together and then used Games workshop Greenstuff and puttied up the joints. I then used Vallejos and GW paints to paint him using normal paint applications and also washes and drybrush technics to get the desired affect.

Base- the base is from a 1/16 scale WW2 German soldier I had lying around, I used marine foam to build up the base, then I used plaster of paris with kitty litter and covered the base.

Once the plaster dried I painted and drybrushed the base using Vallejo paints, I then used woodland scenics model railway bushes and shrubs to cover sections of the base. The deadite figure is from the Evil Dead figure range, he was also given a complete paint over haul using Vallejo paints.

Re: Hemble's Customs 1/6 indy vignette#2 31/05/08

Hi all

Yep another indy I can't get enough of him.

I was looking thru my bits box and found two more Indy heads and straight away I knew I wanted to make Indy in Desert uniform when he is on the Island in ROTLA. In the movie when he first knocks out the German soldier and tries putting on the uniform and then there's another German standing above him I noticed that when he puts the uniform on it doesn't have rank.

I figured that if this soldier is ordering Indy around that he has to have some sought of rank so I gave my Indy a NCO (non commissioned officer) uniform that's the yellow strip around the collar.

RECIPE

1: Head - Is from The frontline custom heads this is the new head. I gave the head a little darker skin then I usually do as I figured that if he's out in the water and holding onto the periscope that he would get a little sun burnt.

2: Body & Hands - The body and hands are both from Dragon.

3: Uniform - The whole unirom is from Dragon. The uniform was boiled in hot water with washing detergent and a quarter of a teaspoon of bleach was used to tone down the colours. When the cloths have dried I put them on the body and gave them wash's to simulate the colour's I wanted.

4: Base - The base is foamcore, I traced a 7" Disney base onto the foamcore and then cut it out. The boxes/crates under the tarp are pieces of foam cut to size and glued in place. I then covered the foam with cloth and use watered down cloth glue to glue it down.

I then covered the base using plaster of paris and used a mix of 50/50 plaster and Vallejo's Khaki, when th mixture was mixed together I dabbed it over the base to give it a concrete. When the plaster dried I then gave the base a wash of Mattblack and then dried brushed it with khaki and off white to give it a concrete look.

Great work Ron. I have all the German gear for this custom but was going to wait for the SSC Indy to come out so I could use the extra head. It's a fairly easy custom to make considering the availability of all of the 1/6 German stuff out there. Very well executed.
