So in the movie, figure aside; is his face actually white and he wears skin coloured make-up on top of it to disguise it? Also, I've always hated Batman (1989) but watched it the other day and loved it!! :D

Yes, after falling into the chemicals at Axis, his skin is permanently white and his hair permanently green. He has to put on fle___one makeup and color his hair to look more normal.

Yeah, his entire body is bleached white, his hair color turns green and his lips become red from falling into the vat of chemicals.

He uses skin colored make-up to disguise it. That's why when Vicki throws that water in his face when he tries to deform her it becomes smeared and white. That's his real skin color.

EDIT:

Oh, Maulfan just beat me to it.

Ah, thats what I thought. Love that idea for the Joker make up! Only thing I dislike about Nicholson's Joker is that he has a name... The Joker should remain nameless! :D

No, so far, it's just Batman Returns 1/4 announced. And yeah, a lot of people don't like Joker emerging from another character like in '89, or at least having his origin so defined, doesn't really bother me though. I only know Batman characters through the Adam West show, movies, and Batman the Animated Series.

I was right about the make up thing :yess:
My friend seemed to be like "... they never really explain it"
But yeah, they do! :D

I hope they do make a 1/4 Nicholson Joker in the future, I think it would turn out great! :)

They show him putting on skin tone makeup before going to the museum, when he's doused with water the white is revealed, when he wipes his forehead in the mob meeting, his white is revealed, seems like they make it pretty clear, he's white in makeup to me :lol Some people need it all blatantly spelled out for them :lol

When I was a kid it confused me. I was a little conflicted with it because of the flesh make-up. Like when he wipes off the flesh make-up with his handkerchief at the mob meeting. I thought he was applying white make up on his head. Or when he was applying flesh make-up, I thought maybe he was putting on the white.

I don't know, I was young.

But it's obvious what's going on. The guy fell into chemicals and it deformed him. I like how they even made his finger nails and the hair on his arms green. That's a detail you learn to appreciate after you've seen the film a thousand times. :lol

Yeah, I thought it was pretty obvious. Just my friend is really annoying :lol

Although, when I saw the mob scene first I thought he was putting on white make-up there. But later on in the move made me realise :)

I had the same confusion, but I was 6 when the movie came out, by the time I was a teen/adult, I could figure it out. There's lots of things you miss as a kid though. The sexual innuendo of Returns meant nothing to me as a kid, today I look back like, wow, that was a dirty movie :lol.

HA! I thought that too.
I also didn't understand what the hell shot out of the batmobile in batman returns when he's fighting the circus gang.
When the hatch opens up and something shoots out and knocks the guy off the dirtbike?
I always thought the flap was the projectile and never understood how the hell it was it there after it was shot.:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

I was a stupid kid I guess.:monkey1
