symbiosis (ˌsɪmbɪˈəʊsɪs, ˌsɪmbaɪˈəʊsɪs)
— n
1. a close and usually obligatory association of two organisms of different species that live together, often to their mutual benefit.
Living in symbiosis, or having an interdependent relationship: Many people feel the relationship between humans and dogs is symbiotic.

Yeah but we're talking about something as basic yet essential as 'being able to eat', not "oh little bird c'mere and clean my teeth". Humans and dogs aren't "dependant" on eachother for such a fundamental thing as having the physical ability to get food into their mouths. Dogs are moreso dependant on us but not to the extent that they literally have to be hand-fed.

Should we agree that we are looking too far into a fictional cgi dog in an alien themed movie.:D :hi5:

We should agree to that. However I am very bored. :D

Mutualism
Symbiotic relationships in which each species benefits are mutualistic.

Commensalism means "at table together". It is used for symbiotic relationships in which one organism consumes the unused food of another. Some examples:
•the remora and the shark. The dorsal fin of the remora (a bony fish) is modified into a sucker with which it forms a temporary attachment to the shark. When the shark feeds, the remora picks up scraps. The shark makes no attempt to prey on the remora.
•Some species of barnacles are found only as commensals on the jaws of whales. And there are other species of barnacles found only as commensals on those barnacles!
•Many of the bacteria living in our large intestine. They feed on food in the gut and do not harm us. And some help us; that is, the relationship is mutualistic.

The dogs horns means they can't eat unless a Predator feeds them, which means they have to be good pets.

i don't even know how to answer it.

...
..It's an alien. Not from our planet.
You can't apply our rules, to it.

ok. let's forget the laws of evolution on Earth.
what about the horns that stick out in almost all directions, and a strong focus ahead? they will be stuck in the ground and in bushes and impede feeding. if the dogs are let out into their natural habitats, they will just die. a second argument against such a conception. dogs will not reach to such a stupid and fatal to a state through evolution.
elementary logic. crude and unconvincing concept of alien beings, and therefore believe in its existence is difficult.

...
Who's to say the Predator's didn't genetically engineer them so they would have less trouble handling them?

very good suggestion. but then Predators are frankly stupid genetic engineers. why? written above.

...
And if you were expecting the design to be on par with the Predator's then you're crazy..
no, no, no!
i would be satisfied with that concept

predators-movie-2010-3.jpg

why the hell is it not accepted? :(
it's great!

...
With all of that said.. I was extremely disappointed when I learned that they didn't go with one of the other two designs for the Predahound. The first one especially, incredible design.
YES! yes!

Unless they have conscious control and mobility of their horns and can splay them when they're eating or something. :dunno
but it was not shown in the film :huh
that means they can not.

Well if they evolved like that they'd be a species very much on the way out...............horns grow that long.
well, at least one person thinks sensibly. that i am encouraged, very encouraged. :hi5:

a man and a dog - they are symbionts. a man and a cat - they are also symbionts. :rotfl

Idunno, doesn't seem that simple.

They're obviously incredibly strong creatures if the Predators actually keep them leashed by sticking hooks into their skin, and the fact that they can withstand dozens of bullets, etc..
So, the bush thing doesn't seem like an issue.

Who's to say they don't use the horns to kill the prey, then use some sort of frog-like tongue to retrieve the body..

That's the thing. They weren't trying to make a documentary about the Predahound. They were coming up with a cool, unique creature to use in the movie..

They didn't give it all these spikes on it's head so that we'd think "HARHAR DUMB DINO DOG, CANT EAT ANYTING"..

The idea is that, for whatever reason, it needs them. We have no idea where it was originally from, or what it lived with.

I'm sure some Astronomer could come in here and go on about how the scene where they see all the planets and shizzle is SOOOO inaccurate, and could NNEEEEVVVEEERRR happen..
Such a horrible, depressing mindset to have..

the maximum that a dog will do with those horns - to raise or topple. other possible functions of horns - use them as a deer. horns do not need protection - the dogs have fast feet.

after this quote i finish talking about the concept of a dog.

AND YES MY BESERKER IS TALLER THAN HIS BROTHERS , I ADDED HEIGHT TO HIM BY WRAPPING LEATHER AROUND HIS ANKLES AND THEN PUTTING THE BOOTS BACK ON , IT GAVE HIM ABOUT 3/4 TO 1 INCH IN HEIGHT
