So shipping within CA is only 25-90 cents cheaper than across the country for Sideshow.

Seems Legit.

In my initial excitement I didn't notice the shipping cost. $17.75 is what they quoted me. That is REALLY high in my opinion. I sold a Hot Toys figure on eBay a couple of weeks ago and shipped it to a buyer in California via USPS Priority Mail and it only cost about $11. Surely a large company like Sideshow can negotiate even better rates than I can get myself. I like using Sideshow for the Rewards Points, but if they're going to charge almost $20 to ship a single figure then it makes the Rewards Points basically useless and I'll just start shopping at places with no NRD ;)

That's why I've been going with BBTS lately. Sure I get the figure a month after everyone gets it from SSC but I've paid no more than $15 for a figure to be shipped WITH packout.

Yep. I just checked BBTS and they would only charge me $9 to ship. On top of being cheaper, it'd be double boxed like you said. If I weren't for the exclusive I would cancel this order and re-order with BBTS.

EDIT: I just realized the $9 shipping is because I already have stuff in my pile of loot. It would probably be a few bucks more if my pile was empty. Then again, PoL is another great reason to order from BBTS if you don't need everything in a rush.

I guess we're paying more for the "handling" than the shipping gauging by the small difference in price to different regions of the US.

There's no way shipping should be this high for anyone especially since you know sideshow is getting a discount from UPS. They're price gouging.

Only 1 way to know if it's a fair shipping charge. Take it to UPS once you've gotten it and let them tell you how much back to Cali-fornia.

No. I can guarantee Sideshow gets a deep volume discount compared to what you or I would pay. And the extra $10 pack-out charge I have to pay to ensure my collectible is adequately packed is complete crap.
