Maybe they are getting a second batch for that timeframe? I'm just SO relieved he went back up so I could use my Rewards points on him!

Just received this via email:

"Thanks for writing in! I've spoken with our supplier regarding the GotG - Drax 1/6th Scale Hot Toys Action Figure, as of their latest update we're currently expecting this product to arrive in stock around mid to late May 2017. Hot Toys have cited significant production issues as the reason for the delay."

I pre ordered him in March 16 so now its looking like it will be at least 14 months from the time I ordered him till he joins the rest of the crew :(

I wonder what those "significant production issues" were... It looks like a fairly standard figure, minus all the tattoos.

I saw yesterday on a post in OSR that Bastista was being a pain about the likeness in the headsculpt, which caused the delays.

Which is total BS. That's a long running totally made up fan/internet rumor. His contract to be in the movie requires him to relinquish his likeness rights in regards to his gotg character. Marvel requires it of ALL actors. Very few tent pole properties don't require likeness deals in the contract. Burton Joker didn't have it as Jack had significant leverage and was still willing to sign subsequent deals just want to be directly involved..sigorney weaver had a similar deal for Aliens. The fox xmen films after xmen origins through Dofp did not require actors to sign likeness deals in the contracts since fox got very little merchandise profits and the cost to get them from mcavoy and fassbender and Ian and all those actors was several times more then they made from the first three xmen films combined. It was also used as leverage in negotiations to get the TV deals and better merch rates.

Outside of these very few cases pretty much everyone else has signed likenes deals. Including every marvel studios character, every other DC films character, all the Potc and bttf and predator and alien and terminator films characters/actors. A couple have approval rights(Arnold and RDJ and The newest batman actor) but all three of those people have a person who handles all that (an agent who specializes in merch) and it's only purpose is to make sure they don't end up on some crazy licensed product they either don't support (think a vegan endorses a meat product type thing) or is embarrassing (think having your face on an adult toy or diapers etc). Marvel makes more money from licensing then anything else(including films and comics) and would never higher an actor who wouldn't sign a likeness deal.

Also-pretty easy to tell that there are no likeness issues with Drax when there are already products on the market from the film based on drax..like the iron studios version.

That and Ballista post a pic of the prototype of Drax awhile back and was excited aboot it. I think HT just wanted to wait till closer to the movie for the release is all.

The main issue with this figure was that the first prototype didn't tool well enough. The scarification just didn't translate from prototype to production and so hot toys started over with a new body. And it takes about a year from the start of a new prototype to production in a perfect world...meaning if they have the time allotted and approvals go smooth and they push it. But in most cases things happen that slow it up, like other figures in both production and prototype stages as well as with new films and whatnot Marvels approvals can take months just for the pre approval stuff and all the licensing issues to get worked out. Then they have to figure out how exactly to fix the first issue. It just takes time. And often hot toys has limited (well not often, always) control as marvel (or DC/WB or fox or whomever) gets approval at multiple stages along the production process (from costume to expression to accessories to packaging to prototype and production samples and so on) and then the factory has its own process and whatnot. Jc has to hand paint the master(prototype) and production samples for every figure. It's a complicated process.

Shouldn't this guy have launched by now? Are there more delays?

Forbidden Planet last said that it had been pushed back to end of Jan...

I wonder how close the Vol 1 version and Vol 2 version comes out together considering the delay?

They could almost scrap gotg 1 for gotg 2 at this point. :/

Except people have ordered the first version. And I, for one, would be unhappy as I want the GOTG1 version to go with the figures from that film.
