Hey, I'm new to this site and I have been reading your post and wanted to get your opinions.

I have all of the rest of the Guardians on preorder, but I'm still concerned that there will be no drax to go with them! A surprise to you all!

However, if hot toys don't make him, surely someone else will? (A la "heavy armoured cop" from art figures?)

Or should I just give up hope and cancel my beloved preorders?

Personally I'm holding on to them and maybe down the line Drax will be released.

They did all of the avengers. Chill everyone they'll get to Drax eventually, this was one of the biggest movies in recent memory.

Why does everyone think this isn't going to be released? I don't see how Hot Toys can make everyone from the team and leave out Drax. Maybe they are reworking the torso and head sculpt? I know, wishful thinking.

I'd like to add Drax to the team, but no pictures of him yet inspire me to do so.

It would be brave to put your trust in a HT rubber body right now. And if they did there would no doubt be complaints that he couldn't be posed, either from a physical aspect, or for fear of causing damage.

I don't mind articulated bodies but the wrists on than proto Drax are uglier than normal for some reason.

Yeah the wrist bother me a lot, articulated shoulder joint is cool, I can deal with that, just like on Hulks, elbow and wrist Tho, I'll sacrifice possibility for aesthetic there...in the wrist they can implement ASM2 system and make the wrist semi-articulated but flush and just give us the option to swap out half the hand with magnets, that was awesome on Spidey.

If they did Coulson, it's a must to do Drax

proto looks like skinny drax. HT always makes their figures too thin, it's like their software or sculpters automatically squish the model/material horizontally.

IM armours, Thanos, Batman, Bane, Widow, Robocop etc are all too skinny and it continues with pretty much every release

My bet is that he will be a Toys Fair Exclusive. I am sure that HT has read the abundance of negative comments regarding him and has decided to release him as an exclusive- as is- in much lower quantities.

If HT is starting from the ground up, sculpting the body and tattoo/scars all have to be done by hand. Then they gotta make a brand new head sculpt as well. That would all be very time consuming. They obviously didn't plan on having to re-do an entire figure but decided it was necessary.

Not to mention the hundred other projects they have going simultaneously

Is Toy Fair this month?

The American Toy fair is this month, on the 14th. I don't think its the Toy Fair that Hot Toys attend... isnt that one in Asia?

I wouldn't be happy about it because, as-is, he is a crappy figure. However, I don't think that Hot Toys will completely rework him when they have so many other projects going. From a strictly business view, they know the hard core fans will want a complete team and will buy him anyway, they can release fewer of him as an EX so he isn't sitting in warehouses, and they can even charge more.

I hope they prove me wrong and give us a reworked quality Drax because I have all the other Guardians on preorder.

I think the lighting in most pictures did the figure no favours.
The sculpt was good but a terrible expression and my biggest problem was his size. Needs more muscle!
