I'm looking at this from my perspective as a consumer. I understand that a business needs to make money, but when I have options of purchasing the same item from multiple sources, I often look for the cheapest one. I am aware that $4 is not what it costs BBTS to ship a Hot Toys figure, but that's what I pay them to ship it. $24.76 is also not what is costs Sideshow as they receive probably a 50% discount or more off of that rate.

I have never used the Pile of Loot. Everything I order from BBTS has shipped within a few days for $4. Checking now, if I want it shipped/delivered faster it's $10.49. BBTS aside, I've ordered from other places like Timewalker, PopCultureZone, Alter Ego, Secret Compass, etc. Despite the fact that they get these items from Sideshow, it still costs me less to purchase from them than Sideshow, even taking into account Sideshow Rewards. In a few instances, the products even dropped shipped directly from Sideshow.

A couple of examples of figures I plan to order - Rescue and Cap 2012 version (currently no tax at these places, but we'll leave that out of the comparison):

Timewalker (free double boxing)
- Rescue - $394.99 with free shipping over $350
- Cap - $251.99 + $13.29 shipping

Pop Culture Zone (free double boxing)
- Rescue - $374.99 + $7.81 shipping = $383
- Cap - $238.99 + $7.81 shipping = $247

Alter Ego
- Rescue - $407 with free shipping
- Cap - $259.99 with free shipping

Sideshow
- Rescue - $407 + $25 shipping minus 5% rewards ($20.35) = $412
- Cap - $259 + $25 shipping minus 5% rewards ($12.95) = $271

Even after rewards, I can get Rescue for $29 less and Cap for $24 less ordering from another seller - add another $10 on top for double boxing. There are obviously some advantages ordering from Sideshow (e.g., receiving the item sooner, but when lead times are 18+ months, that doesn't really matter as much anymore to me).

That Cap 2012 from Timewalker can be free shipping if you combine with another item. I have plenty on reserve from them.

Seems sideshow might be bumping up shipping costs too. I almost ordered the Attack of the Clones Yoda and for that little box they wanted $22 shipping. That?s more than most shipping I?ve had through them. + $10 tax now. Nope. Won?t do it

It did. Stan Lee was a blistering $30 to ship. I get international overnight from BCS for that. Or at least they used to do that, I don't know what they use now.

In regards to the tax, for those curious. I reached out and inquired about existing orders:

Any order placed before January 3 will not be affected by this unless the shipping address is changed.

Nice. Thanks for asking them!

Out of these other online shops do any of them off payment plans like sideshow? I find it being a useful option at times. I know toyswonderland HK is doing them now. Any others in the states besides SSC?

Yes, the payment plan structure SS using is one of its two biggest advantage against other retailers, with the other being its customer service. Knowing you can plan out your finances and pay off an item over the course of months is super convenient. If more shops offered payment plans like SS, and you can getting free shipping and/or avoid sales tax, then SS would be boned.

Pop Culture Zone doesn't have a Payment Plan, but they have an option of allowing you to make payments towards your balance - you choose what you pay (in $25 increments I believe) and when you pay it. So needs a bit of planning I guess.

Just checked Alter Ego and looks like they offer payment plan options as well (10 or 5 installments).

Timewalker seems to have payment plan options on some figures, but not others - I'm sure if you message them they'll let you setup one.

I've never used a payment plan so not sure how convenient these are compared to Sideshow.

You don't need the flexpay to make a payment plan. But you have to be honest with yourself and above all responsible. PayPal credit gives you 6 months of interest free financing on purchases exceeding $99. So if you can break down payments yourself across 6 months you just got a payment plan at any retailer.

You can use Paypal credit for multiple purchases? That would seem like a better option than Flexpay or the other payment plans offered since you would at least get the product in hand and not have to start paying in advance for it. Potentially gives you more flexibility too since you're not locked into something before you even see the actual in-hand/production piece.

Yeah. Dont know if you can do it at sideshow because I dont want the hassle of it. But I've used paypal credit with onesixthkit.

I know people are concerned with the shield, but looking at this picture on Thor's product page, it looks to be fixed, no? shield fix.jpg

That?s cool that they fix the shield. Now all they need to do is make those buckles on his shoulders bigger.Once I noticed how small they are I cannot unsee it as they don?t even fit. Normally I?m not want to nitpick but it just really draws my attention.

they need to go back to the drawing board with this one.

Why they never developed a special body for Cap figures that they could reuse for all Cap figures is ridiculous.

Yeah, it's almost like every other Cap release has a good body. But they are all different for the most part. I think concept and infinity war caps have the same body, but other than that, they're all diff.

I agree, I dont know why they dont just use the concept body. I have both and not sure their the same body. Never really looked at both hardcore.

Quick pic of the 3 I own, which I think have the best body shape. I'm almost certain that concept and IW are the same, just looks different in the arms cuz concept has skin tight top. But I could be wrong. The EG looks like the civil war body with the broader more boxy shoulders and the 2012 v2 looks more like the IW body from the pics released. Certain photos of the EG look better than others. Maybe they changed it or just seeing it from different angles. Either way, they're both on preorder, so I'll be happy with what we get. Seems like they fixed the shield, so maybe they tooled around with the body in these newer shots. Who knows.

I got the civil war one and it looks like the infinity wars body to me. After work I'll post some pics. I'm getting end game also. I was looking at Strike suit on ebay the other day loose no accessories. Was 100 on the bid at the time I saw it. Didnt see the end, but I hope they make an updated one. Then I'm good on caps lol

Most of this is just my speculation, but I believe the difference is the suit, not the body. I watched a video where the reviewer pointed out that the traps of the concept cap are just part of the suit--not the body.

If I recall correctly, only the IW version called out a new body as a feature, which is probably only because it required newly sculpted forearms. I suspect the torso is the same as all other Caps.

The Civil War cap looks the way he does because of padding and the design of the suit. Concept Cap has a different, more sculpted uniform material, and even the IW Cap seems to benefit from a different material choice.

Sadly, the construction of the EG Cap appears to basically be the CW suit with an added plastic chest piece on top, which would be why it has none of the shape enjoyed by the IW and Concept versions.

I keep hoping that we'll get lucky and HT will reveal a re-engineered suit, like they did after the original potato sack style BVS Batman prototype, but its not happening. Remember, this figure has already shipped in a stripped down version. The core figure will likely be identical.

I remain faithful that they'll fix it enough to make it at least screen accurate... But I will admit as more time passes, the more worried I am about phoning it in like they did the pre-release version. I don't often feel that way as they rarely let me down to the point where I dislike a figure after it's release, but we also rarely get the opportunity to see what could be the final product early though a promo release.

I'll still get it either way, but I will be pretty disappointed seeing as how this should be THE definitive Cap for a good portion of collectors that don't want multiple versions of a character. I have almost all versions of cap except the TFA variations, but IF they do this one right it will be my favorite Cap by far. If they phone it in, it won't mean as much, but it will still be worth having.
