I’m not seeing it until Sunday. I’m not super excited about it, but I’ll be happy that Marvel social media can stop shoving it down our throats. Still don’t like the idea of a “deus ex machina” type role in Endgame. I wanna see our hero’s who we’ve loved for years overcome the obstacle, not tag in OP super star.

I'm still sceptical that Captain Marvel will be central to Endgame. Important yes (like The Vision was in AoU), but MS have such a hard-on for the Iron Man and Captain America characters in particular that I'd be surprised if they aren't important to conclusion of Endgame.

A hard-on for two of the most central characters in the Avengers for decades before the MCU was even a thing? How dare they:lol

I prefer this suit. The next figure might have rooted hair so it's best to get this one to be safe. You never know with Hot Toys.

I'm waiting until I go see the movie tomorrow night to see the new suit. And I hear you regarding the rooted hair, but doesn't such a switch seem unlikely? I think the only time HT has ever switched from one type to the other when releasing a new version of the same character was the WW Training Armor figure. Even when they should have (i.e., all the short hair versions of Black Widow) they resisted. Unless CM's hair gets even longer for Endgame, I can't see them going with rooted hair. If anything, I'd think in the future Marvel will give her the butch haircut she currently sports in the comics. Although I'm having a hard time picturing Brie with that hairdo. Maybe she'd just pull her hair back - that's a good look for her.

Wasn't going to get it before.
Now I'm on the fence about getting this figure after seeing the movie.

The movie wasn't an epic but definitely needs to be watched as it explains Captain Marvel's relationship with Nick Fury and how it may help in Endgame.

Back to the figure, can't decide if I like the Denver headsculpt better or Captain Marvel's.
I actually prefer this more vibrant colourful suit.

I would be shocked, shocked I say, if they did an Endgame figure of her a mere 1.5 months after her own movie version comes out. Though maybe they'll do a
white Quantum suit
version. :lol

Potential vague spoilers

Just watched it - probably the worst Marvel film and definitely the least interesting character. The film hasn't really got its own identity, steals vastly from the Guardians approach, doesn't really feel like a hero film and not in a good way. The villain of the film is essentially the comedic relief, which is actually its strongest point with some hilarious moments. Months of Feige saying she's the strongest hero feels like a lie, nothing really demonstrated that. Her powers aren't really well defined and her character is flat. Her main motivation is just that she can do things even with people saying she can't, it's essentially the marketing but lite. It's a feminist film, which isn't what makes it bad, what makes it bad is that it has nothing to say other than she's a female superhero and can do just as anyone else can. If you take that away what is she? Not too sure, seemingly not much.

Definitely didn't feel like a film that needed to be added before Infinity War. Fury, altohugh funny, has I think had his entire MCU's character destroyed. Overall I think if people will be honest to themselves after seeing it, it's a light-hearted easy going movie, but ultimately doesn't hold up to the rest of MCU's lineup and doesn't coincide with the established Avengers and the stage of where they are going into End Game.

Edit:

Other thoughts:

Half the action was great and gripping, the other half was poorly edited and up close, couldn't really see much of what was going on regarding hand to hand fighting.

This doesn't need to be watched before End War. The only link it has is the pager, this was an extremely strategically placed film.

SPOILERS AHEAD

I think you may have missed the main point of this movie. It’s so much more than a “oh she’s a female superhero, she can do anything, she’s strong, etc”. Carol was wiped from her memories for 6 years by the Kree and was used as a weapon to fight the in the Kree - Skrull war. Once Carol realizes that her life in Hala was built on lies, she veers away from her “Kree” personality wherein everything is made to be perfect and controlled. This is shown in the Supreme Intelligence sequence where she finally realizes that while she fails at certain points of her life, getting back up is what makes her stronger AND human. That’s the MOST IMPORTANT takeaway in the film. I’m a guy but this message resonated with me so much. Her motivation was very clear when she meets with Fury on Earth: to fight the Skrulls and look for Wendy Lawson. However, she believes that she also had a life on Earth. Was she robbed of her memories? Who wiped it out? After she realizes that the Yon-Rogg was responsible for this, her motivation now shifts to instead of being a weapon for the Kree, to she doesn’t have to prove anything to them. She fights for what she believes in now. Plus her character isn’t flat; her scenes with Maria and Monica Rambeau prove that. She was literally battling two layers of Carol Danvers - Kree vs Human.

I also feel that the hype for Endgame is hurting this film a bit in terms of reviews. Some reviewers are pointing this out that while it is a good movie, it doesn’t have an Endgame connection which disappointed them. But then the question really here is, does everything have to have a connection to the main event film? Can’t we just get a personal film all about the character? That mid credits scene got me hyped for Endgame but the movie was freaking amazing. Loved learning about Carol and I can’t wait for more.

Hey buddy, how about your put your spoiler part in the spoiler html code? I know that's a big chunk of text but my brain can still process words even if I don't mean to intentionally read em.

Glad I read the last post (i.e., yours) first. Damn, I’m purposely checking the figure thread and staying out of the movie thread to avoid spoilers before tomorrow night, but apparently people still can’t help themselves. Un-effing-believable.

It's okay Buffinator...I'm here for you! :wave

If it weren’t for the Endgame tie in, I wouldn’t even bother watching this movie. I’m still not going to support it by paying money for it but at least I’ll watch it by renting red box or something.

I saw the movie yesterday. I absolutely LOVED it! :rock :rock :rock

I have been an MCU fan since the start and I honestly think this is one of the best origin films they made. It started out a bit all over the place and very confusing, but once the story really gets going it's an awesome watch!

I'm so glad I pre-ordered the DX version. Even though the HT Goose looks a bit wonky it's just an awesome accessory. As is the jacket.

That's good to hear, they said from the outset that it wouldn't be the same old origin style story and it seems that's true. I'm not expecting the best film ever but it is crucial to the story as a whole so am sure I'll enjoy, am seeing in 3D on Saturday morning

Sure thing. Kinda new to the forum so I don’t really know how to do that haha. I’m so sorry, my bad! Editing now.

Seeing it tomorrow night. Just saw it's tracking for a massive opening weekend. So much for those boycotts people online kept talking about.:lol

Spot on dude :clap I saw the film yesterday and I absolutely loved it.

Like you said jolostrella - not everything needs to have a connection to the main event film. I enjoyed all the easter eggs and explanations for things that have happened in the MCU like Fury's eye, but overall I just loved the film because it was just good, solid, fun. A great movie with some great moments and heart at its core. One of the better MCU films I've seen in recent years.
