If you guys had to pick between this one or the mk4, which one would you guys go for?

I also dislike the 4. I mean it turned out great as a figure...but it?s like a placeholder for the VI. I think that design looks way way better with the triangular reactor and the silver bits.

The VII is a pretty major suit in the IM MCU continuity....immensely popular for a long long time. Some one argue it is THE suit since it was apart of that major blockbuster first Avengers movie and it sold like hot cakes for HT as a figure. This is def the suit to purchase.

For me a harder debate would be the VII or the VI.

Thanks guys! I only need 2 iron men in my collection and I already have the 85 on order and I wanted an older suit in the collection.

You might actually want to wait for more Mk. VII reviews before making a final decision if funds/space are the limiting factors. The following is something that I would not have even imagined I’d be saying, also as an avid IM collector who is still awaiting the diecast Mk. VII’s ordered, I cannot confirm that I will feel this way when they do arrive.

Out of the early armors, the VI and the VII always seem to shift as my top favorite spot for the IM1-AoU (Mk. 1-45) armors by design. The Mk. IV, while being aesthetically so similar to the Mk. VI though was never anywhere near my top 10 until the diecast release. The IV & VI diecasts are both so well remade, solid figures that really have almost zero issues with the VI being superior in every way only because of the fact that I prefer the triangle arc, the silver bits and the neat base. The thing is though, there is so much more that’s similar than there is different and the IV & VI look great, have been in collections and have minimal complaints.

Still, as far as shelf presence goes, I don’t think that either one will beat this diecast Mk. VII but the video by Xenomorph seems dead on. They changed the way the shoulder armor switch outs work form the brilliantly designed (for the time) plastic Mk. VII for the worse, changed the lower wings/air flaps on the back for the worse and I just think that once more people spend time with it posing that some issues might arise.

If you are just going to “set it and forget it” in your display, then I will confidently say your choices of the LXXXV and VII will look great. Although, if you think you’re going to want to do some dynamic poses with the Mk. VII, I’d wait for more reviewers to address the issues that Andre did and if the consensus shows these things en masse then you might want to consider the Mk. IV.

I have this on PO and Im getting a clean MK85. Im crazy enough to probably get the BD MK85 too though. I have to stop there for Iron Man. I already have 2 other versions of MKVII and Diecast MKVI.

Here my height comparison. I have no clue why the Mark VII in the comparison some posts above is so towering - cannot reproduce.

I?m perfectly fine with the VI only being slightly smaller overall. When the VII looked to tower over it I was a little let down but in your pics they look great. The VII was a bigger armor so this size difference is perfect! Thanks for the comp pics Xenomorph

What I think really sets them apart (the IV and the VI) is 2 things:
1)Screen presence - As has been stated numerous time, the Mk IV didn't really do anything. But it has become the benchmark for all the armors. The Mk III (and II) were the first attempts at a better suit and were therefore the workhorse base model. The Mk IV looked to be an improved design, but because of Tony's malady, was severely under utilized.
2)The Mk VI as you stated is just a slightly improved version of the IV, but you left out the single most important thing that REALLY separates this figure from the IV - Reindeer Games. The added lights and weaponry to duplicate the shot from the movie is what really elevates that figure and sets it apart. At least, that's my opinion.

That Loki figure's height used to bug me, but then I decided that being the God of Mischief he just made himself appear taller so it would bug Thor. :lol

When the MCU started, wasn't Thor and Loki supposed to be taller than mortal men? I thought it was part of their "God" status... which kind of slowly disappeared as the films went on (and apple boxes became harder to find).

You mentioned how little the IV was utilized but didn?t mention how much the VI was. This suit has the greatest resume of all the suits: first with that new more powerful reactor, battled hammer drones and Whiplash MKII with War Machine, battled Thor and Loki, and finally repaired the helicarrier.

I don't recall that being a thing, but if it was they must have abandoned it pretty quickly. Heck, the last guard Thor fought in the tent (& mud) during the first film was taller than him. OK, technically he was only human at that point, but it's not like he grew once he got his magic hammer back. :lol

Watch Avengers closely: Loki is made to look taller in that scene before Cap and Iron Man shows up (and not just because everyone is kneeling). I actually believed the figure was trying to express that idea.

It was definitely inconsistent, but in several scenes I got that impression. Maybe its just me. I guess if he's supposed to be 6'4'' that's pretty tall as it is.
