I am an architect/contractor/builder. I deal with scale all day long. Upscaling and downscaling to fit clients needs. So scale and exact measurements are pretty important to me. I come from a long line of carpenters and builders in my family where there is no such thing as "close to square" or "close enough". Plus I am a nut for accurate studio scale Star Wars stuff...so my profession helps me a lot in my hobby.

You ever have a refrigerator shipped to your house? Or a 70" TV? I have, both in 2014. I don't see how those were difficult to ship nor do I see a person who wants this vehicle complaining about $100 in shipping when they're willing to spend over a thousand on the figure.

This lack of faith in HT's ability to make and sell large scale collectibles is completely baseless. I have furniture bigger than this thing that wasn't built at my house.

Each wing would have to be in at least two pieces to make it even remotely shippable. But then I would be concerned on durability and how well they connect. Imagine years down the road the wings warp just a lil and now there is a gap. If it was scaled down to 1/8 it could fit a 1/6 figure and the wings could still be shipped as single pieces without requiring freight, but just barely.

Exactly. The EFX has metal armature, something that seems missed from older Icons studio scale TIE Fighter (and Icons X-Wing - and thus droopy wings on some). And some EFX TIE's had issues with connecting the wings to the struts. Depending on how this HT TIE Fighter is made and with which type of materials they might need metal armature as well, remember it is even bigger than the studio scale.

Removable wings are a must, and maybe even separation of each wing in half. This also will be heavier than the studio scales due to larger scale and detailed interior (which has to fit a figure in such a way the ship is not damaged when you insert or remove the figure). Though the EFX studio scale TIE Fighter is more than enough for me due to its accuracy and pedigree, I totally appreciate what HT is doing, and maybe with enough display space I would be interested in this as well.

Let's consider that this piece would only ship from HT's Hong Kong shop directly to anywhere in the world. Would you be interested in buying a big box or a smaller one?

Fridges are shipped by freight by local trucking company.

70" tv is still significantly smaller. 70" TV 63"x38". The wing if truly 1/6 scale would be 59" x 57". Don't believe me try going to UPS or Fedex and ship the wing by itself.

Sideshow and HT aren't going to want to sit and schedule out a bunch of fright shipments. And trust me they cost a lot more then regular ups or fedex which would still be nowhere near $100.

Yeah I was saying removable wings but then even there are two big for standard shipping unless they are multiple pieces. And yeah it 4 times bigger then the EFX.

Oh I believe they could do it. And if they do...that's great. But I don't really care if they do. Its not for me anyway, I am a studio scale model guy. You seem to have a crazy need to be right about this though. My only question about the ship was if it was correctly scaled based of the 1/24 filming model which sets the precedent for the correct size, because it has verifiable physical measurements. We will have to see, based on the pics it looks closer to 1/8 scale, but it doesn't make it any less impressive. It will still fit a 1/6 figure and look really cool. But until we have actual measurements none of us will know for sure. I applaud them for the attempt though.

The only thing that would prevent this from being produced is not enough interest from people willing to pay what it will cost. The Bat wasn't made in 1:6 because there wasn't enough interest to justify the higher production cost, the 1:12 Bat would've cost less in production so they went that route. The Tie Fighter has a lot more fans and is far more iconic, so it's very possible this will get made.
I still think it's under scaled though.

Yup the TIE fighter is in a whole other league.

Yeah, I have no idea why people seem to think they won’t be able to ship this. I have had larger items than this sent “regular” UPS / FedEx before so why would it be different with this. The two wings will be separate so they can go together, then the “arms” and the cockpit (so 5 total pieces.) It really won’t be THAT big of a box, and it will be plastic so its not like its going to weigh a ton either.

Thats pretty cool, Jack. People should be taking your word, you know what you are talking about. Not a true 1/6th TIE, but still looks cool.

Jack, do you know the exact measurements on a 1/6th Falcon? Can you confirm there is no chance for it to be for sale?

Nobody said they "can't" do it, its just that more than likely they won't. You putting words into peoples mouth is really getting annoying.

There 1:1 Life Size figures did so poorly they were removed from there site for a time, there back now. All other 1:1 props are significantly smaller, by a lot. This Falcon is at most 4 feet... if that... which is much larger than most 1:1 props and much more complicated to ship.

I agree with the undersize though.

No, its comparing shipping a large item to shipping a large item. The contents are irrelevant. I have had boxes larger than this one will be shipped to me by regular UPS so why does everyone think this is going to be some monstrosity that can’t be done? And look at the picture again guys. That guys head takes up about half the item so this would be maybe 4 feet tall (I’m not even going to get into weather that’s true 1/6 scale or not because in reality who the F cares.) I got a box of deck furniture that was about 6 feet tall, weighed about 20x what this one will and it was no problem to ship.

I think that's a good idea. It could also be used as a Vader TIE cockpit--more versatility, more units sold, lower price (doubtful!).

Regardless, I would really want to have a significant cutaway section of it so you can really take in that gorgeous interior.
