Making a one off "1/6" is not that impressive, especially when people have made full size ones. If it actually makes it to production that's a different story, but seeing how they have made other one off 1/6 vehicles only to never make it doesn't bring high hopes.

I agree. Its cool, but not impressive.

Yeah, and when that 1/6 Falcon arrives your brilliant response will be "I'm still waiting for the 1/6 Star Destroyer". Hilarious.

Now go eat crow and let the rest of us enjoy this gorgeous 1/6 TIE Fighter from Hot Toys.

Wow, you still believe a 1/6th Falcon will be made to sell. Wow.

I guess he is lying also. He says the ssc tie fighter pilot is in the tie.

Anyone think we'll actually see this produced or will it just be a display piece that will never see the light of day?

It'll be produced. I'm guessing it'll retail for $1000, maybe a little more.

damn, I guess I'll never get that motorcycle I wanted.

:l

PS Staring at star wars toys > motorcyle

amiright?

AMIRIGHT?

Tie not impressive? Seriously? I still doubt you can afford it.

Oh, look, acting like you know me... over the internet..... great. Real great.

Since you are so obsessed with me being able to afford this... yes... yes I can. Need me to buy you one?

Two things come to mind. One, Hot Toys did not produce The Bat in 1/6 scale after showing a 1/6 scale prototype; the realities of producing something that large and the limited potential for sales due to size and price would probably result in a scaled down TIE, if anything. Two, Star Wars is Howard Chan's dream license and he might be crazy enough to see this produced if for no other reason than because it's Star Wars. The prototype TIE might be enough to satisfy Howard though. Hot Toys didn't commit to producing the DeLorean at first due to its complexity. The same would probably apply to this.

That said, I'd have to find some way to get this if it were made. Between this and the Falcon dio, I'm fairly certianly we'll at least see a 1/6 Landspeeder.

You called HT's most ambitious undertaking to date unimpressive. I think we all know you pretty well at this point.

Well, gotta disagree. It at least shows some sort of intense interest in the license. They're not making money off it so they did it for love/personal interest of Howard Chan. SSC has had the license for a decade+ and never done anything like this. Personally this is not something that a few years down the road I'm going to use as a stick to beat HT with b/c it was never produced.
See you got it right there it's likely a one off for Howard. Did he display it sure. That's not to say that HT has a different level interest than SS. They didn't have an owner who used the company to make their own personal toys is the only difference. I have met some of the owners of SS and they are not going to do that, it's doesn't mean they don't care. Howard has always come off like someone who wants the spot light, just like the guy who owns GG. That's why GG booth has a upper deck for him to hang out in like his own lil VIP area. That's why he has a full scale Jabba. Or just check some of the pics of him in Japan when they had Celebration Japan. He wanted to look like a rock star.

hopefully this isn't just another tease. i'm gonna really need this in my life. hopefully we will get some clarification during the show if this will in fact be made to buy. i'm leaning on it will, due to the recent announcement on ht facebook page about producing 1/6 scale star wars vehicles. so hopefully this will be their initial release. the minute this goes up for preorder, if it goes up for preorder, its bought instantly. price and space is a nonfactor when it comes to star wars in this case.

We know you pretty well to. So convinced a 1/6th Falcon will be made to purchase. You should start a poll to see the demand for it.

I just hope some larger scale vehicles get made. Preferably ones not already tackled by MR or EFX.

If Hot Toys really wants to make a splash, show us a good sized (not 1/6, that is frankly too big) Slave 1.

I can't think of a real reason why it can't be produced. If the wings are detached, like the hasbro toys tie fighters, the cockpit section isn't that large. The whole thing could fit into a box that's roughly the size of the 89 batmobile box, if the wings can be detached. It's deceptively large because of the height of the wings. It would still be expensive, no doubt.

agreed. the production of this does not seem complicated at all. the largest part of this are the wings. and its not a complex part at all. its essentially 2 flat pieces. this is why they made the logical decision to go with this first it seems.

The price is something I can't quite get my head around. I think at $1k it would be made like junk, given the size. For it to be a nice, sturdy design that can take some normal handling, I don't know... I'm guessing a lot more.

Only reference I have for $1k+ 1:6 is customs and even pretty decent runs of 1:6 humanoids are routinely over $1k. This would need a really big run, I think, to bring it down to the point enough people could buy it to make it worthwhile for HT -- even if the design is relatively simple. It's still damn big and is going to need to be well made to support the weight.
