When I first saw this, I thought it was thumbing for a ride.

I thought the 1:6 version would be a ways away. Now I'm not so sure.

That picture of the Predator 1 bust looks a lot better than the press photos for some reason. Maybe it's the lighting...I don't know, but I would imagine it is in fact the same bust they used for press photos. Ah well, both look great.

With ya there, but I think once again, HT's using the 1/4 bust line to test the waters for consumer feedback to see what it'll take to please us with their 1/6 effort.

I agree with you Maul there.

I wonder why they didn't do that with AVP-R, and Iron Man?

I would be very surprised to see them tool up and go through all of this trouble to gauge a run of 1/6 figures. They know they will sell out a P1 whether it is a masterpiece or a piece of crap. People will be happier if it is a masterpiece but it will sell out either way. This is nothing more or less than another successful money making venture.

Looks beautiful, but I do agree that the face looks more like and Alien 3 version. The teeth and the whole cheek area look a lot like the dragon.
Beautiful piece nonetheless.

Well, AVP-R isn't prescious to people like Predator and ALIEN, there's no concern about screwing up, and Iron Man is a pretty easy to follow pattern since it's a mechanical design and is new so again, not prescious to people like designs that have been loved for over 20 years.

I agree the Predator 1 will most likely sell well regardless of screwing up or not, but it is possible that they don't want to take the "we'll get our money anyway" attitude with the figures representing their respective first films and actually care about giving the fans the best product they can. I'm sure an ALIEN would sell well too even if it's another ALIENS case, but in that instance, it'll be a different collector base, I'm sure a lot of folks would just opt for Medicom ALIEN if the HT one is departed from the source enough. I'm hoping they really want to give us the best P1 and ALIEN figures they can and do want to know how on track they are with these busts.

I hope you're right and they are about the only 1/6 manufacturer I feel really cares about pin point accuracy. They get closer than the rest. SS does a fine job but they usually blow it on their face sculpts. They just don't seem to care if they're off. HT seems to have more of a conscience on that IMO.

I agree a little like A3, and yes it is nice. But I have to save for the figs...:monkey2

I'm with you on that to an extent. HT definitely seems to approach portraits very technically, really nitty gritty about making the portrait as realistic and dead on to the source as they can with the sculpting, and SSC has some sculptors who are the same way, Trev for example, but there are some who have a stylistic look to their sculpts. In a way, it's kinda interesting to get stylistic portraits, but as more sculptors at Sideshow and Hot Toys are able to achieve more photorealistic sculpts, stylistic is losing appeal with me.

One look at their aliens shows the inaccuracy of your statement.
HT might be getting very good at portraits of actors they have the license for, but their aliens are woefully inaccurate.

I like this! I don't collect any Hot Toys stuff, but this will be an exception :)

I love that ALIEN bust! It looks fantastic and makes me more excited for the 1/6 scale figure. The detail looks amazing and I like the base as well.
