Keep in mind, this is the same individual that made the disturbing post in the SW section stating in so many words that older fans of Star Wars need to die in order for Star Wars discussions to improve for his convenience:

Not like I am lying. Once the old folks die off then the movies will be looked at honestly without rose tinted glasses. That will lead to more constructive conversations instead of what we have now. The old folks claiming repeatedly that only the first 3 star wars movies are good and all of the rest are garbage.

I’m sure you’re indeed being veracious, that’s the disturbing part. You’re genuinely wishing death on people over a fictitious universe, so that way there will be more people who agree with your opinion in your discussions about that fictitious universe.

Scary.

I said the discussions will improve when certain older fans die off. Show me where in that is a wish by me for them to die? Yes in a few decades when all of the rose tinted glasses wearing folks who saw the first 3 movies in the theatres and completely overlook the numerous problems of said movies while bashing all of the new ones are all dead people will be able to have honest and superior discussions about star wars without nostalgia clouding their judgement. Saying the discussions would be better is far from wishing people would die.

Try not to be so sensitive that your compression becomes clouded please.

Oh my. :slap

He really is going to attempt to go down a rabbit hole of playing wonky word games on what he said and attempting to justify wanting people to die over a fictitious universe for his convenience, even though it’s quoted right there for him at the 30,000 foot view per se.

We are going to circles here. Why? Because you read my post in an emotional instead of rational manner and came out with a made up accusation. Don't let your obvious emotions cause you to see things that are not there.

This is truly a troubled individual.

I think the reason HT doesn't do rooted hair on male sculpts is because some folks complain that it makes the figures look like Barbie dolls. I prefer rooted hair but usually have to get them redone in the secondary. It's too bad HT cants offer an alternative like Asmus did with Boromir. The techniques have continued to improve in the past couple of years. Not as good as hand work, but it they offered haired versions for say a $25-$30 premium, I'd buy.

I agree with you. Rooted hair is still touchy subject to collectors, with some adamantly very opposed to it. And that can play a factor
in people buying male figures with rooted hair. So Hot Toys is playing it safe appealing to the masses.
I also agree with you that they still have a lot of work to do when it comes to mass produced rooted hair.
When its done by a customiser, since they put a lot of effort and time, it can look very realistic. But with mass produced, it can still look doll-like

What a nice guy he is. :lol

Best to just avoid and ignore these self loathing types.

I have to disagree there.

Rooted hair I think seldom works because in many cases, it just comes out looking a bit odd to me being that the hair is essentially 1/1 scale on a 1/6 scale head. Sculpted hair I feel often tends to capture the intricate details in hairstyles better at this scale than what even hours of futzing with rooted hair can.

Sometimes, rooted hair does look better though. The Ripley figure for instance I think is one of them. The prototype had rooted hair, but HT went with sculpted hair for the final product, which I think didn’t look as good. So I suppose it just depends on the figure. This figure I feel isn’t one that would look good with rooted hair.

The thing with rooted hair, just like what nexus mentioned, when its done by hand, it can look magnificent, adding to the realism. Some of my most favorite figures I've seen, look so realistic with rooted hair.
I personally have a few, and to me, it just adds another factor to the realism.

True though, when not done right...it can backfire and can cheapen the look of the figure.
So I guess I can see Hot Toys decision here.
I bet though when this figure gets released, There's gonna be someone that's gonna do a rooted hair.

Owen and Night47 have done some amazing rooted hair customs.

Indeed. I’ve seen some Thor sculpts that look stupendous. Like you said though, it often requires contracting out to a customizer in order to look good. And even then, it still doesn’t always look right or good.

I prefer sculpted hair, but not because I think it's inherently better. I've seen some people's customs with rooted hair that is mind blowingly realistic looking. The thing is, I'm sure they spent at least several hours self-producing those. The only figure I own with rooted hair is WW, and while it's not bad by any means, I can say that I prefer sculpted hair as far as mass production goes. Once HT (or whoever) is capable of producing realistic looking hair consistently for mass produced figures, I'm on board. That said, once hair goes past shoulders, extra effort should be put into getting rooted hair right if it can be done cost effectively and consistently. I hate the hindrance of articulation.

Yeah, that's why I tip my hat for the few who can master doing it.
I've personally tried it, its Hard. Its sooo time consuming, and in the end, the hair looks like a bird's nest. :rotfl

Yeah, I do concur that the trade off with a long hairstyle that is sculpted, is it hinders articulation of the sculpt from side to side because the hair often rises up off of the shoulder, which looks peculiar. You have to pretty much keep the sculpt looking straight ahead so the hair stays flat on the shoulders.

You can't offer proof of your claim so you keep repeating the same thing over and over.

....

You lost me when you described the OT as "utter perfection"
You Rose tinted glasses wearing old or middle aged people need help. I love star wars
All of them except TLJ. To be so delusional that you continually manage to over look all of the problems the OT has shows you and others like you have issues. The future star wars discussions will be some much better once all the old people who obviously drank and are still drinking the Kool aid die off or are too busy going to the.bathroom in their adult diapers while in nursing homes. The movies will be actually judged on merit then.

The fact that you see utterly nothing wrong with statements and sentiments such as these, and attempt to justify them by attempting to bring others down a rabbit hole of wonkery by playing inane word games about what you said and meant, seriously borders on sociopathic behavior by definition. I sincerely hope you at least consider seeking help for this disturbing behavior and mentality, because trolling a toy forum for the past five years as your way to cope demonstrably isn’t cutting it.

And the fact that to you it’s for the betterment of a make believe universe, makes it even more scary.

Which was exactly my point. I like this look and was trying to decide which version to get. I initially wasn’t sure about the JL version and posted in there that it looked good.

I also posted in this thread that I liked this version for its comic accurate color scheme and that I wasn’t sure which AM to get since I only have room in my collection for one.

I like hearing differing opinions on these figures and designs because different people see things I don’t. I appreciate everyone’s thoughts and see this forum as a place we can all share our thoughts on collectables.

We may not all agree on movies, designs, or figure choices but aren’t these forums the place where we come together express those ideas? Shouldn’t any and all opinions be welcome and not shunned if they disagree with others?

I’m interested to see how this outfit is utilized in the movie. It may make me change my mind on which figure to get. The trailer looks amazing. Can’t wait.

Why isn't Malgus banned yet? Where are the mods when you need them? We dont need people like this here. I was reading nice constructive opinions and suddenly, here comes Malgus starting crap...

I fail to see how constructive criticisms of this figure count as trolling. Also it's natural to compare it to the other Aquaman HT figure just as we did with the MoS and BvS Superman. Should only those that love the initial prototype post on the thread? We all want the best possible figure but right now it has a way to go.

On the rooted hair debate I'm generally against it until HT show can mass produce it in much better quality but I won't be insulting those who have a different opinion. :lol It shouldn't be difficult to have a healthy debate without insulting others.
