Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

I don't think $315 is alot for what is basically an articulated PF figure.

Yea that's the way I see it. Like I said before. In the back of my mind, i had a feeling this would be around the price of a PF with it being just about as big as a pf, and IMO a lot more detailed and better paint apps. I just hoped for cheaper

I hope it's a sign that somebody will start offering high-end articulated 1/4 scale stuff.

EB has the 1/4 Scale atriculated Arnold T-800 coming. Can't wait to see their price on that :monkey4

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

Cant wait for those Avatar fan boys who cried for month and months for these to rip it apart now and find 10 reasons why its not worth $300+, just cause they are to cheap to pay for it :lol

That's why I roll with cash-in-hand ready to pounce! NRD put down :clap

Secondary and after market prices are driven by one thing and one thing only: DEMAND. Even if they only made 1,000 of these do some of you really think there's going to be enough demand to see this thing hit Mark I or DX Joker heights? Heck, most people are going to balk at paying $315 for this thing.

Hard to say how something like this will do. There is a large interest in the film and I think once this is in the hands of collectors and people see how ridiculously huge it is the money will start flowing towards HT.

Will it be a secondary juggernaut like the Elder Predator or Mark I; probably not. But I don't think it will ever be available for less than retail, and if you buy from from Sideshow (factoring in RP and free shipping) he'll be just under $300.

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

Is 315 a lot?? Absolutely.

At the end of the day it comes down to what we value. And while expensive, this is a piece that I would love to have in my collection. It's all about a persons own taste.

For example, I thought the Boromir statue was amazing, character I really like from a movie I like. It also happens to be cheaper than this figure but I don't collect statues. For me the Sully is worth more.

Just my two cents.

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

Nice looking figure but at $315 I'm sooo glad I have zero interest in Avatar stuff.

Wish I could see this one in person, though.

Bring over the Medicom C-3PO and we can have a dolly party :duff

I know... I admittedly just wanted more ammo to laugh at the $315 blue cartoon monkey figure. :lol

Sorry your backing of Watchmen never panned out... but maybe oneday you can make peace with things :monkey2

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

WOW! $315!! I have to admit I was really surprised to see this but then I saw he was 18 inches...that's pretty damn big. I was gonna say that ironman hot toys are pretty nuts in detail and light up figures and they don't run $300 but they probably don't require the kind of custom hand painting that this figure does. All this being said, I think I'm gonna pass...price is just too high for me for a non PF figure.

:lol I'm totally fine and comfortable with liking WATCHMEN more than AVATAR, my friend. My sensibilities are not tied to box office receipts or a misplaced sense of validation. ;)

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

I do like the comic of Watchmen more than Avatar... who wouldn't? But when it comes to the film version I can't say the same :huh

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

Hey, just trying to be fair and balanced... I did put the "who wouldn't" disclaimer.

But the Watchmen movie was pretty ho-hum... but those figures have languished on the secondary market as well.

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

Well I just got my order in on Flexpay and I'm pretty happy about it.

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

Hulk is gonna run at least 350 then. Damn!
maybe with a $100 discount. he's still pretty huge compared to this skinny thing. i'm not holding my breath for a HT Hulk.

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

I've waited a long time (since the film came out like most people) for a decent figure of Jake, and at first, I really liked this, but the more I look at it, the less I like it, the joints are what put me off the most, his feet are terrible. Plus I am kind of baulking at the price...

It will all depend upon what he comes with. Jake has a pretty detailed light up base so that does add a little to the price.... and I did say "at least", which keeps me covered from 350 to a buhzillion! :lecture

I think they completely mis-marketed the WATCHMEN merchandising. DC Direct produced way too much of their stuff, and NECA flooded the direct collector market with tons of junky trinkets. The property lends itself to a more sublime approach. It's obviously not nearly as commercial as other brands. They never should have pretended it was.

That said, I still think if Hot Toys had lead off with Rorschach then Comedian we would have gotten more than 2-3 figures from that line. Oh well.

It's all good, though :duff

Re: Avatar: 1/6th scale Avatar Jake Sully Collectible Figure

Agreed... no Rorschach was an odd move. Too bad we couldn't have swapped the DCD and HT production plans :lol

Seems like Rorschach would have been the obvious first choice for a figure. Weird decision on HT's part.
