I'm going to spoiler this just in case:

I remember reading for Iron Man 2, the reason for the differences from the Mark IV to the Mark VI were supposed to be Tony hurrying and grabbing loose parts to load into the gantry which was supposed to explain the triangular chest plate as well as the steel accents because he had to get to the Expo which none of which panned out. So it's possible that the next Mark would have the circular piece again. In what has leaked there are scenes rumored to have Thor and Tony fighting it out when he returns to Earth which seems to have been shown in the trailers since both are shown in the same outdoor setting, again with those rumors Tony's mark is supposed to be badly damaged and he grabs another which is what people have been referring to as the Mark VII which might have the circular chest plating.

Ill take the old Nick Fury anyday.

Interesting I hope Iron man has another suit in the movie to give it a little separation from the other movies. Hulkbuster would be pretty damn awesome and make it nearly impossible to not buy.

Yes....rumors have been that Loki brings the
Kree/Skrull war
to earth and that's the plot....if it WERE that, I wouldn't mind.

As for The Avengers License, I hope Cap is first. How many Iron Mans can they possibly make LoL

PS On a sidenote, I want a freaking RED SKULL AND LOKI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as a new Iron man suit goes, I'm going to say That we shouldn't bet on it. Yes, the artwork shows a new suit, but that's all it is. artwork. The Thor art looks NOTHING like his costume in the movie IMO, and the trailer shows what looks like the MArk 6.

just food for thought.

sorry but hasbro is making a figure that is seen in the artwork and promoting it as one of the main 3 (cap thor IM)

it will be an armor in the movie, fact

In the conceptual art he does, in the trailer he doesn't. We are still unsure of what the Mark will definitively look like in the film since even in the quick flashes what is shown looks like the Mark VI with no changes whatsoever.

It isn't reused footage either because it syncs with the Thor footage at the end and fits with what we have read leaked.

Why can't Tony wear the MVI armor in the beginning before switching to the VII?

Here's the thing. Hollywood is not in the business of making move toys. that's hot toys, who models the toys after the character as they appear in the film.

Hollywood is in the business of making as much money as possible from the smallest investment possible. Designing a new Iron man suit is EXPENSIVE. you've got to pay the artist who draws it. the modelers who build the prop, and the 3d modelers who build the new 3d model.

From an investor standpoint, Avengers is a movie that can be made using existing props to save money. This is the route I'm expecting. I don't see them spending a 3rd or so of the film on Tony stark building a new suit. Not when they can just use the existing props and CGI models.

That's money that could instead be spent on the characters who NEED new costuming. Like Cap. Or new CGI for Hulk.

Just my opinion, which is further supported by the movie Trailer.

See my previous post.

Hasbro also made toys for transformers dark of the moon, revenge of the fallen, and transformers the movie of characters who did not show up in the movie. It's EASY for them, and a quick cash cow. Don't use what a toy company does to figure out what Marvel pictures is going to do.

I'd like to add, I'm not 100% certain, I'm simply basing my opinion on the information that we already Have, as well as the fact that we're currently in a rough economy, and that this film already has a great deal of CGI in it, I'm just not expecting them to do a new Iron man suit.

I could be wrong, though.

If they were making a whole line of Iron Mans I would agree with you. But this is the main and possibly only Iron Man figure from the film. No way they would make the one Iron Man representation be a suit that doesn't exist.

As much as it costs to design a new suit, much more can be made from merchandising and toy sales.

oh i want a hulk or new captain america or thor..
we don't need another iron man. concentrate on the hulk..i would 5 of these suckers if they came out.he would be huge and expensive..

A new Mk. (with a round chest RT) is certain. Reusing Mk. 6 is in a way shows continuity/progression from IM2, and a chance for HT to milk (reissue) another Mk. 6 (Like a 2nd batman begins suit)

I think the trailer didn't show a Mark VII for the same reason that they didn't show Hulk. Maybe the CG isn't finished yet, or maybe they are saving it as a little surprise to unveil next year.

exactly theo, there will be a new suit, Garunteed, to say other wise is ignorant imo, and yes hollywood id into making toys, because they get additional revenues from licensing and what not, again ignorant

Hasbro, not make 14 different variants of each character, from a move, they have the license to? Surely you jest sir!

You might be right ( about the suit), we'll know for certain in a year.
I just think that marvel pictures would save a new Iron man suit for a new iron man move. Makes more sense to me.

I Wouldn't, however, Be surprised to see a new " special purpose" suit. Like Hulkbuster, the Suitcase armor, a "Space armor/ Zero G armor" etc.

You're not thinking what you're saying through.

Think about it this way. In comparison to the revenue generated by the film, The licensing fees they get from the toyline is not enough that they care THAT much about it . Yes they car, but the movie is their prime concern.

And even then, they would STILL get those licensing fees from Hasbro, even if they simply re-packaged the Mark VI on an "AVENGERS" card as the exact same toy from the Iron man 2 line. As long as Hollyweird gets paid, they're happy. And they would both ways.

In The Avengers because you have so much done, a simple "I've got a back-up" and then showing various suits that he just dons is explanation enough and they move the story along. Hasbro figures aren't the best but they DID break the triangular chest plating for Iron Man 2 already. This is their Avengers IM piece:

Compared to the last two marks:
Mark IV:
016_mark_4.jpg

Mark VI:
019_mark_6.jpg

which the Mark VI wasn't accurate because the steel accents were last minute additions, there is definitely a different suit coming but probably the Mark VI to start off with the new being the Mark VII. Now there are plenty of rumors floating that there will be Marks shown but not used in Tony's SHIELD compartments and if that comes to pass I guarantee you that HT will make them.

That new one from Hasbro definitely looks like the one in the poster art, with the big pads around the neck and silver on the thigh areas. It wouldn't surprise me if that's the main suit he wears in the film. He could also use the VI, (or VII) and get it too damaged early on in the film, then switch to this one, or vice versa.

As for not having enough time to build the characters up individually, that's the whole reason each hero got his own film (or several.) The Avengers might not be a direct sequel in name, but it is a sequel to Iron Man 1&2, Thor, Captain America, and, probably, the Incredible Hulk. It isn't meant to be a stand alone film. There won't be origin flashbacks or anything like that, all that stuff has been covered already in previous films.

That being said, I'm not loving the new Thor look as much as his original look, but really diggin' the new Cap look. Very tight and streamlined.

I must say....since HT made a Jake Sully....I'm fairly confident that they can pull off an awesome HULK. BUT, I don't even want to think of the price :lol:lol:lol:lol

my only planned purchases, as of now, from this movie will be Cap, Hulk, and more than likely Hawkeye. Just not a fan of that Thor look as I'm completely happy with his solo movie version and I guess I also love the MK VI design that whichever that pic above is (mk VII?) has to grow on me before I decide
