Do most guys here prefer AvP Elder or P2 Elder?

Most people would go with P2 Elder as he's the more iconic character. Badass in a subtle way (with some nice P1 throwbacks), whereas the AVP Elder is badass in a more direct way. Not that there's anything wrong with that; the latter can look quite regal on display.

I'm excited to see what HT can do with their remakes, but there's definitely a charm to the older figures. Especially this one since it's unlikely they'll do him again.

You and me both. Tsang needs to get his crap together if he's to sculpt a P2 Elder. Those funky mandibles of his will look perfect on Wolf and "meh" on the P2-style Predators, but they'll stick out like a sore thumb on Elder.

Im not too fussed on Wolf. However I know you like him!

Actually, Wolf is my least-favorite Predator of them all. I wouldn't be able to resist owning him in 1/4 if they did him right, though. The 1/6 version was terrible, which only fueled my dislike for him. And the movie was pretty bad, too.

A solid representation takes the design from 'awful' to 'quite cool' in my book. The unmasked NECA figure taught me that.

All the AVP's, yeah. I don't know what it is about them... it's like, I'm well-aware that the original Predator is the best film, but the designs have always struck me as cool.

I have to admit, I'm pretty impressed with NECA's newest stuff. The paint apps are better, it's just the bright off-white/off-yellow color choices that look odd.

The thread will still be as active as it is now. But the new thread would really over power it due to the amount of people who will be able to afford the new one.

But i really do not expect the new AVP Predator (im not expecting more than Scar) to be better than the original release except for maybe paintwork and Bio mask.

There will be a few changes but none of which i think will be for the better. New body being one of them.

The new bodies have almost as much articulation as the old, and look 100x better...I don't see how an updated release can be anything but greater.

Yeah I think the new bodies are so much better than the old ones. I recently bought the P1 & had to buy a Classic body to swap over. I should actually try & sell it as its just sitting in its box never to be used.

Knowing how Hot Toys likes to utlize their molds and the AVP preds being so similar in body & base armor i'm sure they'll do the big 3 and the elder in 1/6. I hope they'd redo the ancient elder too but who knows. They know they can milk the AVP teet again so i'm sure they will be!

I'm speaking of the AvP figures specifically. They were already incredibly inaccurate to begin with, so I don't see how an updated release could be anything but great for them.

The beauty with the current AVP figures is all the armor has extremely well hidden " click in " parts so you can remove every single bit of armor and have with abs. without, left chest armor, right chest armor ect. I think the new armor will be 1 piece. The new bodies are also more limited than the original and the avp leg and arm armor already reduces the articulation as the armor is "strapped" around the biceps and thighs.

So i am worried about the newer, less articulated being made more inarticulated as ever. Especially when all the joints are hidden on the original body in the AVP armor so you can get away with the older, more articulated body.
