One thing's for certain, we'll see very soon how the BTTF madness fairs. I just hope if they're gonna do Marty that they do Doc. I'll only get into this license if they do both figures.

I'd love to get the car but I just don't have the room.

I don't have the room for it either but for me it is impossible not to have it. The DeLorean is like one of the main characters, just as important to the film as Marty and the Doc, although it doesn't have as much screen time.

Same for Batmobile in many ways, but I ain't got the room for that either.

This is when I look back at my 3 3/4" collection and remember how all things and sizes were possible.

But we'll see -- if the thing coverts into hover mode and lights up I might have a hard time giving up on it.

The car is a 'MUST-HAVE' for me, almost more than the figures themselves! :horror

I've wanted a high-quality replica of the time machine since I first saw the movie back in '85 (even if I didn't really know what 'high quality' was back then :lol )

Seriously though, this is my favorite movie car, and right up there with the Falcon for me in terms of iconic vehicles. Guess I have a thing for that 'kitbashed-in-the-garage' look with all the exposed pipes and wires! (Probably why the Mark I is my favorite Iron Man Mark as well! :wink1: )

Anyways, I just know HT will kill this, at this scale, with interior lights and gauges, headlights and flux bands, man, this will be amazing no doubt! :yess:

All of this :lecture:lecture:lecture:exactly::goodpost:

The BTTF DeLorean is a must have for me as well, not only in 1/6 scale but I've always wanted the real car to drive in.

I just found this thread today. If HT makes Marty, Doc and the Delorean I will poop a brick and build an igloo. This would pretty much be the best news ever.

Ok. Actually, the best news ever would be if HT got the license for Jurassic Park and made T-Rexes and velociraptors. That would be the best news ever.

I remember the days when "original" movies like BTTF, Ghostbusters, Raiders, Alien and Star Wars - new stories and characters created as movies - arrived and just blew people away, creating instant icons and catchphrases. Days long gone.

I do so desperately miss the days where originality reigned supreme.

If the 80's happened now, somehow McFly would end up bouncing through time and meeting the T-rex from Jurassic Park and ultimately teaming up with the Ghostbusters to stop an alien race from invading thru a time-slip.

You don't think there's originality in new movies today? :dunno

I wish I didn't see this thread. I'm not a fan of 1/6 stuff but would find it hard to resist these.

Batman, Avengers, LOTR, even Pirates are all based on previously and well-known material. Did this new Battleship movie really need to be associated with the game to sell tickets? No. Of course not, it has nothing to do with the game, but the mentality is there that it needs to have branding, name recognition to guarantee numbers.

It's very difficult if not impossible for someone to come along and make Star Wars or BTTF or the many, many movies that came out of the eighties because those got made based on terrific ideas or scripts or the passion of trusted filmmakers who believed in the material. They were creating whole new characters and worlds, not rebooting or re-imagining.

It's true that there are more movies today that are unoriginal but there are still many new original movies. I don't think BTTF or Star Wars are original ideas, they too are based on science fiction that came before them, just like many movies today are based on what was before.

If you were old enough to be there at the time you would think differently.

Everything is based on everything, so there's always that "there's no original ideas" idea.

But come on, Battleship!

Interesting fact: 96% of the movies that have come out in the past 3 years have been remakes, sequels, or otherwise based on previously existing franchises.

What do you mean? And how do you know my age!? :horror

Well, most things are based on what was before. Star Wars is based on many science-fiction books and movies, like Star Trek. Time Travel in BTTF, which basically makes the movies what they are, isn't original at all.

I don't care so much if some movies are based on what came before, I only care if they are good or not. Like Batman from 1989 or Batman from 2005.

If no one could make a movie with a similar plot or theme, there wouldn't be many movies made today, because at some point most things that one could come up with will have already been made...

But come on, Battleship!

Scarface.

I dunno about this 'back in my day' stuff. Yes BTTF was awesome, but who remembers what else was playing in the cineplex at the time?
