Take every announcement as if it never happened and don't expect them until they go up for order :lecture

This will obviously be another two figures and abandoned license, it's a shame as i'd take a version of Marty & Doc from each film and the Delorean

Most wanted would be BTTF II Future Marty

Agreed, Though I do hope they prove us wrong.

Bummed that so many people aren't fans of Part III. I'll admit that when I was a kid, the whole western thing didn't appeal to me as much, but as time has passed I've become as much a fan of Part III as the other 2 films. We need western Marty and Doc to complete the set IMO. I would get incarnations of the 2 time travelers from all 3 films personally...

It actually suprised me learning that part 3 is considered by many to be the worst one. If anything, I always felt that part two was the least enjoyable. It always seemed a bit too dark to me, had a slightly awkward and goofy first act that they were stuck with due to the ending of the first film, and lacked the big climax that parts 1 and 3 spent the whole movie building up to.

I liked the urgency of the final scenes. How they were trapped in the past and really only had one small chance to get home. Wheras in part 2, there was no real need for Marty to get the Almanac at that very second. If Marty had failed to grab it off of Biff's car, him and Doc could have just as easily cut ther losses and tried again the next day. Come to think of it, that would have probably been a much safer plan.

Don't get me wrong; I still love part 2. I just like 1 and 3 more overall.

I wouldn't count on this being a quickly abandoned licence. While yes, I do think it is very unlikely that we will get a figure that is not Doc and Marty, I can see them producing a few variations of each character.

There are really only three reasons why Hot Toys abandons a licence prematurely.

1. Poor critical reception/Box office performance (Sucker Punch)
2. Technical difficulties in creating the characters (Tron)
3. Poor figure sales.

BTTF does not fit the first two. And while it is impossible to fully predict the sales of these figures in advance, given the popularity of this movie and the fact that this would be the first action figure of these characters ever available I can see them being successful enough to warrent a varient of Doc and Marty. I would almost count on a Con exclusive variant as a given.

Marty and Doc are the only ones I really would have to have. But, if they went full out, I would probably also get Biff, Lorraine, George, and of course, 3-D.

I can think of another... stretched resources. They can only make so many figures per year and they tend to lean toward the better licenses (i.e. Avengers or anything Marvel and Batman).

It is this reason that Hot Toys hasn't re-visited their Planet of the Apes line in three years. :monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2

Of course weather or not this licence becomes a priority depends on the success of the initial figures, but 2013 does seem so far to be a relativly clear time for thier lineup.

Let's be honest here, Planet of the Apes is more or less a dead franchise. While the original definatly lives on in the american consciousness as certain quotes and imagery, the movies themselves doesn't have quite the timeless staying power as the BTTF movies do. BTTF is really second only to Star Wars in terms of the public's gerneral familliarity with the plot and characters.

Just watched all three movies over the last 3 days, together with my mother.
Such timeless movies and quotes.
Marty: "Whoa...that's heavy."
Doc: "This Word again...heavy. Why is everything in your time this heavy. Did something happen to your gravity?!"
:lol

I guess I quoted it right, but imagining a 1:6 Delorean...

Marty: "Great Scott"
Doc: "I know...this is heavy."

:rotfl

Wow, seriously? I love the first BTTF, but I'm not sure its characters are powerfully familiar to today's kids or man-on-the-street.

My boys have taken it on themselves to watch BTTF 1 2 & 3 every night this week - without me. :monkey2

I need to get the blurays. But I heard they weren't very good. Anyone care to chime in on that (slightly OT).

I have them. Great features, commentaries, new interviews with everyone except Glover and Wilson, a really solid package.

How is the picture quality? I heard the upgrade to 1080 dpi exposed the FX in a non-flattering way.

The picture quality is great, I can't see any flaws. Have re-watched the blu-rays several times. :D

The picture quality is fantastic, and I was worried as you apparently are about exposing the FX (same with Star Wars), but they weren't any more apparent to me than they've ever been before.

What? I appreciate your love for BTTF but I would venture to say it is way down the list for "movie's that come to mind" for most people and far from second to STAR WARS... did you forget Jaws, Indiana Jones, Terminator, Alien, Die Hard, Predator, Jurassic Park, Pirates, even Matrix. I'm sure I'm forgetting alot. I really like BTTF but its not even in the same league as the above. It's a cute, very well crafted 'Disney' type movie. I honestly do not expect sales to do well and have fears we may not get Doc, just Marty and the Delorean.

Yeah, I don' think BTTF is as popular to the general public as SW or plenty others.

I personally LOVE BTTF. I can practically recite the entire movie and I used to watch it whenever it came on cable. It came out just at the right time for me when I was 12. A girlfriend of mine from Jr High and I would sometimes plan for a "sick" day, then spend the day talking on the phone and watching BTTF on cable together. We even came up with the code word "McFly" to indicate that there was an adult in the room and we couldn't talk freely. I used that code word up to the day I moved out of my Mom's house!

However, I never got into the 2 sequels. Maybe I loved the first one too much and anything else was a let down. They're interesting films, though. Zemekis made a move "around" another movie for part 2, and kind of a remake for part 3. Ultimately what bothers me most is no Crispin Glover. He is sorely missed in the sequels and I really hated how Fox ended up playing all those different roles. It came off kinda silly. With that mentality, Fox would have played George McFly in the first one as well, since he ended up playing his whole lineage.

I'm looking forward to see how Marty comes out!

:lol While really smart people can recite lines from Shakespeare, I can recite lines from a plethora of 80s movies! :(

Hey!!! Hot Toys read theses boards so less bashing the BTTF ok. I mean I would like 2001 ASO figures to be made but I doubt that will happen.
I would say 95% of HT buyers are grown adults spending their own wad. So it would make sense to do some older movies imo. I think the BTTF figures will do really well, sales wise.

It is easily in the same league as the above. No question at all. Hell, its way beyond a couple of them. The Delorean is an iconic image that almot everyone recognizes. Same with the characters of Doc and Marty.

It is definatly a member of the "Big 3 Classic Trilogies" (The others being Star Wars and Indiana Jones).

I can honestly not say that about Predator, Jurrassic Park, or Alien. Hell, even with Jaws and any of the Pirates movies besides the first one. While those movies certainly have iconic imagry and set pieces, it doesn't mean that the stories or characters are as familliar to people as the BTTF movies. I bet most of the public would be hard pressed to even name any of the actors in those movies; let alone the names of the characters they portray.

I honestly don't get how you can say that considering how widely popular they are. BTTF not in the same league as Predator? Not a chance.
