My DeLorean has not arrived yet, but looking at pictures, i think it should be possible to install a repair plate. Made from metal about 1mm thick and attaches with the existing screw and 2 additional ones. Install one on each side (2 per wheel). Painted black, i don't even think it's noticeable. As it's a simple part, a local metal fabricator should be able to make 8 of them for a small fee.

It would be better to fit them before it breaks, but the broken part can be glued back then install them. Even if you're lucky and get a replacement car, it will probably happen again.

I still have several months of flex pay to decide on any mods I will do on my car, but if I do need this part, I have had great success with Home V all it would take is a vector drawing, which I could do

My replacement from SS is now showing as “Processing”. So close. I get to open it up again!

I’ll definitely be trying the upside down trick when I get it. One additional thing I’ll probably do is loosen both screws on each axle before folding the wheel down. That should completely alleviate any stress on the plastic. Once folded in flight node, I doubt it’ll ever need to revert anyways.

I think we can kiss the Part 3 version goodbye. I really don't see HT wanting to bother with another DeLorean ever again after all the QC issues this one is having.

Maybe not- this product doesn't feel/look like it cost THAT much to manufacture- I mean I love the car and all the cool features, but it doesn't feel like a $850 product. It is made completely made out of lightweight fragile plastic. You can get an RC model of this size- made out of metal parts and hard sturdy plastic, for much much less - and this doesn't even have a motor/RC stuffs.

I expect the biggest expense was just the molding and tooling- which they already have out of the way. So even if they get 50% returns due to this or that quality issue, I bet they are still coming out WAY ahead ...

inspected mine just now and some tips for what it is worth:

drivers side chair came unglued during shipping and scratched up interior. hopefully can get replacement seat as it is scratched up a decent amount. The interior scratches i will mull over as it is quite annoying given the price to not get it "perfect". Unsure what sideshow can do in this case.
one of the windshield wipers also came off, but no issue with putting that back.

i would also suggest to flip car upside down to start. the wheels and strut/attachment on mine were particularly stiff. I took a flashlight and checked all four wheel wells for any stress marks, none found. I pinched with my thumb and index finger only to grab the strut/attachment (not the wheel); i then pulled slowly out straight. It took patience but i want to say i put nearly no stress on the parts that have been shown to fracture. If I recall correctly there are 3? audible clicks on the front, the rears at least 2? The rears i had to really keep pulling out more to allow the wheel to turn without bumping anything when in hover mode. I then checked on the screws and mine were not overtightened at all, i then proceeded to loosen them just a touch for extra safety. I returned all wheels back to car mode and will be placing a small/short acrlyic block underneath to reduce any load on the wheels while displaying (car mode for me since i am limited in display real estate).

I'm not as savvy with posting pics, but if you are careful, it can probably alleviate some of the issues that have been mentioned.

As more folks are getting their orders shipped it would be interesting to note which ones had broken wheels before going into hover mode (implying factory issue), and which ones were from "normal use" (implying user mishandling).

IMO, still unacceptable for the price paid.

All of these videos and reports seriously have me thinking about cancelling my preorder.

I just don't see $900 in value here with a heaping helping of fear of breaking the damn thing.

Man I hate to say it but I am very close to canceling. At $900 I don't want to have to deal with so much aggravation.

Is there reason to think it would be susceptible to cracking or breakage in the non-flight mode? Not sure I understand exactly where the stress point is, and if it could break even if you avoid ever rotating them.

I've been wanting a Part 2 DeLorean for far too long to ever cancel this. It's just a shame there are so many issues to have to watch out for now.

Finally got around to taking some pics... I don't feel like the wheel mechanism will break if it is done correctly. Just make sure the wheels are pulled out all the way to the end before trying to turn them downwards for the conversion.

Thank you very much! I was sweating the whole time, trust me! After doing the first wheel however, I realized that they had to be pulled out a lot further than I thought. It's almost as wide as the tumbler when the wheels are fully extended...

Have to commend Sideshow on their speed. Received last Thursday, sent back Friday morning, they just shipped it today, and the replacement arrives this Thursday!
