Was it stuck somewhere ? Or did you lengthen it with a new piece of wire ?
I can only guess it may be either stuck inside the vehicle or actually too short. I had new wire and a soldering iron ready to go after I saw danoby’s video. Attached pic is before I fixed it. Couldn’t pull it out any further.

The brighter wheels do look a whole lot better there, but as usual some of his other solutions are just very weird, like applying goopy gorilla glue to the struts instead of just loosening the screws, or having all those extra wires along the side.
I’m with you on this. Applying glue on the top layer is almost like putting tape on top. The stress will remain the same and a crack may still form at some point even under all that glue since the pressure fans outward. Loosening the screws to relieve all pressure completely would be more beneficial to longevity. Why is enjoying this Delorean so much work??

In investigating how I can rewire or even extend wires out, tried to open the front up but didn’t get too far. I know the main circuit board is under the hood. Only got as far as removing the front grille and some screws under there. Scratched the front a tad by trying to wiggle it off. Second pic is under the hood where you can clearly see all the cables and attachments to the circuit board.
3rd pic circled is the wire you’d want to extend to the outside to switch the light modes. Can’t quite reach it via under the dashboard though.
(Maybe I should just start a new thread on Delorean 2 Mods)

Big thanks to @HAL9000. for their pics from a few years ago.

It already looks daunting.

A mod thread may be beneficial as I'm sure more will be done about the wheels as well as the lighting.

FYI, I contacted Sideshow with the broken hood hinge issue, they offered me 3 choices.
  1. Send it back and get another replacement
  2. Send it back for full refund
  3. get $85 store credit and keep as it is.
I'm going with option#3 since I can just fix it on my end.

Talk about impulse buys! After seeing Danoby2's second video on this, I decided to pick this up And a Doc and Marty. Never was in the plan but if all goes well.... this DeLorean is CAF!

All, my company is able to make custom stands, mounts, and floating shelves for 1/6 vehicles like this. Would anyone be interested in something like this for the Delorean?

We could make something with cool trickery to make it look like it's hovering!

That would be awesome- but I'd also need you to actually install it on the wall of my office...

Well look at the plus side it's giving us plenty to talk about :angryfist:

Got mine today. The light feature no longer cycles and won't come out of regular lighting mode.

I put new batteries in and the lights kept shutting off randomly after a few seconds. Now the button does nothing and the car is just stuck on for non hover mode lighting. I took the batteries out for a few minutes and put them back in - the moment you put the last battery in it just turns on immediately and stuck on non-hover mode. Pressing the button won't cycle the lighting options or turn the lights off.

It also has a scuff on the back bumper. The scuff isn't a huge deal but really disappointing when you spend almost $1000 after tax and shipping.

I'm sending back to Sideshow for a replacement in hopes the next one is in better shape. I'm not hopeful I'll get a better copy but hopefully it won't come with a wheel hanging off.

It's sad when the 1:24 Diecast Back to The Future 2 Time Machine I bought on amazon for $26.99 still lights up and is in great shape after 2 years meanwhile this release is a sht show

EDIT: The lights also flicker and go off and on by just tapping on any part of the car 😒

So many issues for something that's overpriced IMO. 825$ should have some metal parts (the wheels mechanism), and some quality check.

Sounds like a possible short in the wiring for the button which I don’t doubt. On one of my wheels, the lighting wire was crushed under the mechanism and I had to very slowly pull out and it was flattened. Luckily the two wires inside didn’t short.

Hot Toys quality control here has been beyond disappointing. I didn’t even mentioned the misaligned front end. Not noticeable at least.

I'd send it in. Better now when they still have plenty of stock- after all the next one you get could have something else wrong with it. Keep trying until you get one that is perfect I guess?
