Hi guys I'm new here.
I have hesitated a lot between the regular and Black chrome... Finally went for the Black Chrome and got it a couple of days ago.
Going to give a very honest opinion, I really don't give a damn about the money it costs, all that matters to me is the end result and my personal appreciation.
I was very happy with it when unboxing it and posing it, it looks extremely impressive, it may even be the most impressive Hot Toys figure I've ever seen. Like, my most personal favorite figure from HT is Terminator Battle Damaged from the first Terminator movie, and Batman absolutely dwarfs it, it makes my T-800 look ridiculous, I didn't expect that haha.
However, beyond the limited articulations and weak ankles (I don't mind it really, I expected this figure to be heavy and not very posable, and in general, I never take big risks with Hot Toys, if I want to pose a figure like crazy, I'm going for Play Arts Kai, I buy Hot Toys for the accuracy, details, and overall look), one thing I really hate with this Black Chrome Paint Figure is that you need a lot of natural light to really enjoy it.
The so-called "black chrome" paint doesn't look good in artificial light, and even with blue neons, it looks weird and "fake". It's certainly NOT shiny, absolutely nothing like the promo pics, it looks very "plastic-like" in artificial light. However, when the day comes, when you have natural light, it looks exactly like in the movie, the paint is very subtle and have a wet look to it. It was really made for natural bright light (which I fear doesn't do well for the regular version).
Also, there are a lot of "white" painted areas here and there, and these parts look weird with artificial light as well.
I wish we could've gotten a paint as shown in the promo pics. It does look glossy but not as much as I expected it to be. And it's definitely not shiny, as chrome is supposed to be.
Overall it's a very solid figure, very impressive, but I'm really tempted to buy the regular version as well now. First I only wanted to go for the Black Chrome, but I feel the need to see the regular one in person and compare it to the Black Chrome. I think the regular one might do it better for me as I don't have that much light in my home and even if I had, I gotta work and really only enjoy these figures at night with an artificial light.
So yeah.. I'll see and give you new thoughts about this figure when I get the regular version. For now I really feel the black gets old pretty quickly and definitely not the result I wanted to see. The sculpt is glorious though, and it's really the only model I wanted out of the Bat V Supes movie (the Knightmare and normal suit look great too but I really dig the armor version a lot more, it just looks badass). I'll try to get good pics for you, I got a pretty good camera.
