Badass pics and poses, Clip! :clap

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

Clip great review I do agree overall and this will be my last figure of cap. Seems to be all the same but does look amazing and I don't care for the mouth plates and clean look. Wanted something a bit different and that's the only reason I jumped on this version.

I think after watching Clipper's review, all his points are valid on the difference between this and the "clean" version. While I absolutely love the base (I'm always a sucker for diorama bases), the fact that the scratches on the shield are just paint and the fact that the clean edition gets the double jointed neck with swappable faceplates, I believe that's going to edge this one out.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

Great review. I don't like the new shield holder but i will never put it on his back so i can live with that. Looking forward to having this in hand.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

Wow, having the shield on his back does indeed look horrendous, in my opinion. Looks awkward, sloppy and too far off of his back for my liking. I'd also be inclined to think constantly unhooking and unsnapping the strap on the shield to put the hook on for his back could potentially cause the strap to break over time. For those that want to put the shield on his back, I wonder if the hook that comes with the SS figure would be compatible with this? Looks a lot cleaner, in my opinion.

With regards to this shield having the straps, I wouldn't consider that a regression. In CW, Cap goes back to using the straps on his shield, so therefore, the figure/shield reflects that. In AoU, he had the magnetic shield as everyone knows, so the magnetic shield with the AoU figure is intended to simulate the way the shield attached in the film. While granted it is much more convenient and easier to attach to both his arm and back, this figure having a strapless magnetic shield wouldn't be accurate.

LOVE these shots, Clip -- feeling really good about this now. WILL get the Reg version faceplates to go with this.

:exactly:

Regular version for me though. However, I don't anticipate that one will be very much longer.

Regardless of the magnets being a gimmick in the film, the functionality of the product should have priority. The magnets are more effective and practical. They would not have needed to remove the straps to add magnets. They could easily have hidden them in the clothes or even the body.

Yeah I did do both on this one. Man it will be nice if both the regular and promo edition come at the same time, can't wait to throw that head sculpt and face plate on the battle damaged version. I think I'm going to post the regular version with the naked head sculpt. Such a shame that the Mark 46 isn't coming out until next year. I really want to set up some battle poses!

You know people would have complained (endlessly and loudly) it was not like that in the film :lol

Awesome review. Disappointed about the shield holder but not a deal breaker. Can't wait to be this. :yess:

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

Everything from the waist down is a huge improvement over the AoU version.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

Your review was excellent. I was really on the fence as I have the regular version on PO. I thought about paying the high price I see this on eBay for but I'm going to pass. I'll save my cash for someone else. I really enjoyed your honesty as usual and look forward to your next set of reviews

The functionality of the product has never been a priority.

Hiding the magnets in the clothing isn't the issue, the parts of he shield that held the magnets are not there on the CW version. And you can't hide them.

The shield is back to the original straps in Civil War

Yep. Hot toys figure is being downgraded for being accurate. When I'm willing to bet some of those asking for the magnets have complained about the inaccuracy of the A logo. Or some other not screen accurate thing.

The shield design , on the back, was changed. You can't hide the magnets on the shield. You can put all the magnets you want on caps body but if the shield doesn't have them it does zero good. The material of the shield is non magnetic (the diecast metal).

The Aou shield has these metal bits.

The CW shield does not

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

Perhaps the black plastic clip could have a magnet in it, rather than just hooking on to the harness. And the two connectors weren't positioned outward but toward each other. Then it could sit flush to his back.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

anyone got converted from waitlist? It seems like it takes longer than usual.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

I think the conversion only works if people cancel their orders, but TWS stealth Cap is still listed as waitlist available so I dont know whats up with that
