Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

Perhaps the black plastic clip could have a magnet in it, rather than just hooking on to the harness. And the two connectors weren't positioned outward but toward each other. Then it could sit flush to his back.

That wouldn't fix the main issue most people have. The black clip would still need to attach the same way to the shield it does now, and that would mean it would still sit that same way.

Man, just looked and mine has been sitting at the post office since Saturday:(
Closed on Sunday and tomorrow is a holiday :mad::mad:

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

I think the conversion only works if people cancel their orders, but TWS stealth Cap is still listed as waitlist available so I dont know whats up with that

I know how it works in general. I was just a little late ( less than a day late after it changed)
Usually I get converted about this time (after HK release + a month before sideshow release)
I was wondering if it's limited in numbers, or HT is filling up HK orders for this item before calculating 'wait to buy' conversion.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

It's very limited numbers. A standard figure has a couple thousand (6-8k) figures in a run and ssc gets 50% or more of that total. Ssc got 200 of these.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

Oh. Didnt know about 200. Where did they say that?
I guess its gonna be a tough luck this time then. I dont really mind the regular version either. Just favored this base over 2nd mouth plate.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

They didn't publicly say the number.

Where did you get the 200 amount from?

From a person that works at ssc. And just to curtail the "well it's only motuxmen" saying it lines...at least one other person on the forum was told the same info from ssc.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

Conversions will happen if CC's get declined but I don't see too much of that happening on such a small run. The good thing is the regular version Cap is almost the same, it's not like NA Scarlet Witch where it's a completely different figure from the regular AoU SW.

Wow, that's very limited then. I thought for sure it would be around 500 to 1k.

The total run is more. Moko (the pop up store for the civil war show at moko shopping mall) had 300 or 500 and toy Sapiens had 300 or 500 and then secret base had 300 or 500(I don't recall which one had which specific split).

Cticizicing this figure for not having a magnetic shield is retarded. Bugged the hell out of me on clippers review. It accurate to the movie, whether that's a pain in the ass for possibility or not is irrelevant. Hot toys would have gotten infinite crap from everyone had they not been accurate to the film.

The Avenger logos on his shoulders for a start.

On another note, I find the best place to get caught up on accuracy is the Terminator threads. Man it's hard to please people there...

:exactly: I have 8 Cap figures with straps on the shield and it's never been a problem for me.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

Do I full well believe that they could have integrated a magnet into the mount? Absolutely. Not for one second do I think that is something that isn't feasible. Hot Toys takes liberties to *emulate* reality with their products. Throwing a **** storm either way is crazy, but functionality wise?As long as it looks the part, that's the goal. I don't see anyone complaining that Cap's belt buttons to his pants with snaps and doesn't have a working buckle. That's not "accurate" either. So yes. I stand with the idea that the magnets could have been used even with the straps, and said straps would be purely aesthetic. Does it matter in the end? Absolutely not. Would it have been a reasonable modification to the design that would have been ultimately invisible to the collector? Most definitely. But getting knickers in a twist over someone preferring and suggesting the tech could have been used is silly. Likewise, had they done it, and those who would think it inaccurate would also be off their rocker, because in the end it would look -no- different on their shelf.

All the same, a shorter shield clip would solve this whole debacle.

Many of the promotional materials released to toy makers prior to the film shoe the avengers logos on the uniform though. And correct me if I'm wrong but I *think* the logos are on the uniform during the first fim sequences, could be wrong about that though. Regardless. I'm fine by the shield. It's accurate. The clip sucks, that's for sure.

Re: Hot Toys Captain America:Civil War Captain America"Battling Version" Movie Promo

I'm right. The logos are on the uniform until they split up.

He never has the (A) logo and the scratched Shield at the same time in the movies, it is why I removed mine. I mention it at some point in my review :) I do have to say I was very happy that Clipper gave me a shout out, it was kind of nice :)

Could they come up with some way to do it? Of course. Would it have been accurate? No. Would it have added to sales? No. Would it have cost them money? Yes. If you like the other shield better then buy one and use it.

You can say you think collectors would have been fine with it had they changed it just a little to keep that magnet gimmick as much as you want...but 15 years and 500 figure releases have shown that not to be the case. Anytime, anytime at all, there is some change that is not screen accurate it gets brought up and people complain. Every single time.

So if it doesn't help sales, it's not accurate, and costs hot toys money why should they do it? Because a few people want it?
