I still read comics and think the costume looks amazing. When are people going to learn that what we're used to in comics tends to look silly on screen?

:goodpost::exactly:

yeah i want cap to be in war wearing tights or denim jeans....practical :cuckoo:

Thor and Cap's costumes aren't pleasing to the Eye? They please my eyes just fine and to me look great. I read both comics and while I like those costumes they've done a good job of keeping those at heart but doing something that looks great on screen.

Agreed.:goodpost:

They tried the comic version costume in 1990 and it was brutal...

Yeah, actual comic costumes without any tweaking tend to look goofy. Superman is about the only one who can get away with it.

IDK guys I really, really like this whole look for the costume, it reminds me of ultimates cap, just looks bad ass, only part I dont understand is why this cap has a gun

Brubaker or GTFO. Anyone who kills Cap and brings Bucky back--things that are both incredibly stupid on the surface--and makes it that damn good, deserves a special gold star IMO.

Finally, someone with sense. If you've read Brubaker, you know Ultimate Cap is poop. Pick up Fraction's Iron Man, or Straczynski's Thor if you want other good super hero comic reading. But Ultimates? Please :lol

Still hate the suit :goodpost:

I'm enjoying Cap right now comic wise. His death was an interesting twist and his comeback has been as well. Also like Bucky as Cap and the story line they've rolled with that.

I'm not saying they should have put him in tights; I'm saying the suit they've designed isn't right. My opinion, I know. Something along the lines of the picture I posted would have been way better. What they have looks at least 50 years too advanced for the period.

Comics don't really lend themselves to live action film in the first place. The most accurate comic movies, per se, would be made through animation or CGI. Don't look at any of the stuff marvels done so far. But with the right writing and expensive animation, we'd essentially see stuff from the panels in motion. That would be great.

Appears the helmet is on in the HT proto pic but the chin strap looks different than the movie pic. Don't know alot about WWII Cap is HT version another helmet option or is it the same helmet and I am missing something?

My understanding is, and this is a very small spoiler but...

The movie is bookended by modern day events. The pic they have on your post seems to be the same suit but with some minor modern upgrades, for instance the chin strap. I'm sure HT's will give us both versions, hopefully in one package. Of course this might be the way they milk the license a little.

that's not the HT prototype in that teaser image. it's the original CGI concept design for the costume that marvel used in the film. HT has yet to show us ANYTHING at all.

Concept art whew......I like the looks of the helmet from the film pic not the concept art image.

Well, looking forward to the movie, but I don't know if I'll get the Hot Toys figure. Depends how good the movie is, really.

Don't get me wrong, I like the costume design a lot. It really works as a WWII Cap, imo. Reminds me a lot of the Ultimates design. I think I'd just rather have a modern version... assuming the Avengers movie version is a little more conventional.

Personally, I don't like the look of the Ultimates Capt. America and that look is what it seems the movie (and probably Hot Toys) is following. I know comic accurate versions don't lend themselves to the silver screen very well and so they need to be changed. With that being said I would live with the look a lot better if they covered his neck and put the wings (not just painted) on his helmet.

I don't know why they want to make films of iconic characters, then avoid using their classic outfits.
Whatever else it may be, that is NOT the Captain America I grew up with. And after years [decades] of wanting a well done Cap for my collection, something looking like that will not be it.

I'm going to get the WW2 version and The Avengers version, only reason is because of the whole year in between them being released, I'll save up :)

you ever saw the first spandex they used for spidey for the tv show way back when? it was brutal as well. they tried the spandex again with raimi, and it worked.

dont blame the source material. blame the lack of vision on the part of the director n costume designer when a screen costume looks like a$$. i'm not saying you have to stay true 100% to the source material and leave no room for adaptation, sure change things if you want, but change things for the better. make it look cool, not less cool.

THIS...

is not a superhero costume. it is a PIJAMA. you guys noticed how dedicated chris evan is to physically BE cap? you think that silly costume does justice to the countless hours he spent at the gym? what's the point of getting the actor to look buff if you're just going to bury his hardwork under a loose pijama where you can hardly see the muscles?

and cap costume is the american flag(duh!). it only has 3 colors, because the flag always has 3 colors and 3 colors only - red, white n blue. see the costume above? see the 4th color? why introduce a dull color like grey to the costume is beyond me.
