I hope HT does a more classic version also, or I may have to get the Captain Action costume for him.

If they stick to the original script ideas (I haven't really followed the news of his film past last SDCC) then Rogers has a USO costume that looks more like the comic counterpart, according to Johnson he feels ridiculous in the spandex and design and forgoes it for the one we've seen on Evans so far. If that is the case then I guarantee you that we'll see a standard Captain America that probably comes with the jacket, alternative head with the helmet that fits a Rogers sculpt to create the WWII battle look before full costume as one release and then a USO Captain America because the costumes should be different. Originally rumors were that costume designers were looking at Kirby designs as inspiration but who knows where things actually went from there.

Obviously the fact Chris Evans is playin Cap kills it but design wise, it would have look 10 times better if they could've been a little less lazy with the design and left out that horrendous chin strap on the helmet. Also would it have been too hard a task to include the iconic wings on the side too?!
Back to the actor though, I still think he just doesn't have charisma enough for the role but I'll reserve judgement when I see it...

The chin strap is going for an Ultimates look. Plus if he does any acrobatics he's going to need that strap in order to keep the helmet on. As for the wings, they are painted on the side, which makes a million times more sense than those stupid little wings that stick out in the comics. Sorry, but I hate those wings.

While I don't hate them, I definately prefer them painted on for the movie, it makes sense because it goes along with the whole military insignia or rank vibe.

The wings would have been a pretty dumb looking addition for the non-comic viewer. Can you imagine the average movie goer seeing those for the first time. "I loved the movie, but what the hell did he have little wings on his head? He couldn't even fly. I don't get it"

I get steamed thinking about the missed opportunity that is this movie.
Yup, producers blew it on casting the Human Torch to play Cap as Ryan McPartlin from "Chuck" shouldve gotten the nod. He's got it all......
Joe Johnstons story of how Chris got gig is just weird.
(I think someone gotta BJ outta the deal)
Evans might end up being "serviceable"(pun intended) but no more than that.
c' est la vie.

I can only hope at this point the 1/6th head gear comes off so I can use my own sculpt for Cap.

yeah i think we all pretty much have some doubts as far as the casting goes, but darn i want it to be good so im hopeful.

Same here, not the guy I would have picked to play Cap, from what I've heard not a director I would want to direct, and from what we've heard about the script, it isn't what I want either, but I'm really hoping that I come out of the theater pleasantly surprised. I'll be okay if it diverges from the comics, as long as it is a good movie and doesn't ruin the character.

Totally agree, but I hope to be pleasantly surprised. If not, Caps going to really stick out like a sore thumb in the Avengers. Iron Man was great, Thor looks good, Incredible Hulk redeemed the character. By comparison, a bad movie could leave a really strong character in the shadows.

You are in luck. According to the revised promo images of the suit (revealed at the Hot Toys event last week), the wings are painted on the side of the helmet.

I definately like it, wise decision for the movie and figure.

Now if the painted insignia (wing) was not going to be used and it was just a plain helmet, then I would be pissed.
