i watched episodes 1-2-3-4-5-6 over the course of 2 days about 2 weeks ago and i got proper bored during 4-5-6.

You and me both. Now I'm liking the original trilogy a lot more, but a year or two ago I would get bored after an hour and a half. The story felt a little slow paced and the action scenes were a bit short.

Now I like all 6 equally.

lets not forget that for some odd reason, Lucasfilm requires the sculpt to capture more the essence of the character, than the actor portraying the character.
I'm asking genuinely - is that actually a fact?

There are Hasbro figures with almost dead on likenesses out there. I personally think HT Bespin Luke's clean face is a result of the sculptors not nailing the ESB Hamill properly.. :dunno

Logical speculation.

Consider the market size that Hot toys has, and add in the demand for their products, as well as How LONG it takes for their products to sell out, even on EXTREMELY anticipated releases.
Additionally, they NEVER say edition sizes. only that it's "limited edition"
to me, that speaks of edition sizes in the upper thousands, even possibly in some cases tens of thousands.

I suspect that their business model is very similar to the old sideshow inclusive concept.
They KEEP making them till the release date, and then stop.

Do I know this for a fact? no.

Am I confidant I'm correct?

Yes.

Yep, even Sideshow is still selling out early on pre-orders for a Boba Fett exclusive stands that are limited to "2,000". I can't imagine how many are pre-ordered and fullfilled during windows for Superman and the Classic Predator. I could almost guess there are more exclusives than regulars being made... or at least equal numbers.

Same thing happened when Sideshow tried the "inclusive" system, lots of orders = tons of cancellations and items that stay at or below retail.

Hmm, I can see your guys' logic. :duff

I can't, but that's only because after the first two sentences, all I hear is the teacher from Charlie Brown. I am impervious to edition size discussions.

this actually IS fact. Several sideshow sculptors have commented on exactly that several times.

LOL

here's the TL;DR for you .

HUGE market, = HUGE quantities made.

The original prototype Vader helmet looked a lot more like the ANH helmet than the production version did. Not sure if that's why, because the Hasbro helmet that many people used to replace it was almost perfect. However, that may have been because the Hasbro one was produced before the LFL policy was in place. Ever since ROTS, it's been assumed that LFL wants all of the helmets to look as close to the 2005 version as possible.

Ok. I want to go so far as to say they often overestimate the size of the market, but I'd have to temper that with the fact that people buy much more slowly than they used to.

That's because you are supposed to watch 4,5,6 first. The way they were meant to be watched.
I watched the originals years ago because my friend was obsessed with them. And he would put them on all the time. Maybe thats why im done with them.
WTF?!?!?!?!
Please go away and never come back. THis is sacrilegious.
Who r u?! Go away!! :slap
Sweet moses!

It's funny because when the original Star Wars came out people went back to see it three and four times because they said it was such a fast paced movie that they missed things that we take for granted now.

In our fast paced minds today we see a movie like Revenge of the Sith and have to see it three or four times to make sure we caught everything because there is so much going on its hard to catch everything. It's amazing how our movie going minds have evolved over the years.

Now I can't even get my kids to watch the originals without them saying "boring". Back then it was more about the story than the action where today if there is no action people get bored too quickly.

I agree that when I look at those now they are slow and boring but only because I've spent years watching, studying, and listening to every piece of dialogue, costume, and set piece under freeze frame.

All the big reveals are in the original trilogy. Darth Vader is Anakin Skywalker, he is Luke's father, and princess leia is his sister. Not to mention the frog on the side of the road is a Jedi master, and the old wizard is a compulsive liar.

The prequels are a glorified subtext from the first novel with pretty CG and no substance. Even when he turned to the dark side in the movie it only took 10 minutes. Wow. Way to hold your ground there Ani.

Still hesitating about getting this set, imo it seems to look pretty awesome, but i definitely can't wait for HT SW figures.

for the next figure...at least chewie was on there but the rest were an easy pass...

I dont see how they could do Bespin Luke without making Vader to follow right after

It's quite simple. Because Sideshow will be releasing their next Vader in the next little while.
