is this the first star wars figure that hot toys is doing? have they talked about doing any others, particularly darth vader? that would seem like the obvious next choice for them.

Haha, seconded! Was totally looking forward to getting this in May. First payment went out on March 5th so I'll be done in April, at least, with plenty of time to spare. Guess better it's delayed and they do it right than they rush it out the door. Although I like the prototype a lot, still would be great if they can get the sculpt a little closer to Hamill.

They haven't said what the next fig will be but it's unlikely it'll be Vader as SSC has already said that they're working on one. SSC and HT have an agreement in place not to duplicate one another's efforts.

Because the licence is leased through SS, and SS is currently developing a new Vader. Why would SS grant permission to HT to make a figure that will then take away direct sales from them? Makes perfect sense.

But really, that would make a very cool display. The whole of it would be too big for me in 1:6 scale but a cut away of what Luke is standing on would be awesome. That's something I may try and build as a wall mountable display.

Keep in mind this was the late 70s/early 80s. God knows what variety of icky stains those mattresses are covered with.
