We are discussing: A NEW LOOK TO HT HEADSCULPTS, not these figures are great or these figures are ****. Obviously judging by the previous page or two, other feel the same.
Oh god, why does it always go like this after about 3 posts when someone points out something negative about HT?

Simply put, because a lot of members here do not understand what 'discussion' means and automatically assume one hates HT and their output because you are not sucking Mr. Chan's ballbag.

Either way, really looking forward to Luke and hope he turns out amazing.

Well in fairness Batty it was in relation to Luke's head sculpt originally, now it's gone off the rails.

That's just it... it's gone off the rails. It's fine if people want to have this discussion, but maybe not have it in a thread for a figure we don't have in-hand yet. :dunno

Well, I for one hope Luke is a complete success.
Apart from Indy, their DX's have so far been top notch.

I do agree with SnakeEaters post though.

Go take this conversation someplace else.

There actually is a thread dedicated to that already.

From what I have seen the softness has always been there. Mostly the sculpt accuracy and paint work has gotten better.

When you compare production to prototypes, yeah you do see a drop in sculpt sharpness. But that's always happened. I've seen people complaining about that as long as I've been here. :lol

Maybe there's someone here who has a larger, more varied collection of HT's figures from over the years that could give a better example of this drop in quality, but for now I haven't seen any. This comes off as "chicken little" to me.

From what I can tell the softness has always been there. Mostly the sculpt accuracy and paint work has gotten better.

I have thank you very much. Click the link on my sig if you need further evidence. And you are missing the point entirely. This is a new "look" to the latest HT sculpts. Or am I banging my head on a wall here? No one is discussing the proto to production model. That's a completely different conversation.

Now as Batty says, back to Bespin Luke, and let's hope this conversation is not needed in here as soon as the figure starts to appear inhand. I'm expecting the best actually, they would be crazy to **** this license up, although Indy still stings.

(and by the way, I started that thread you linked)
:lol

Right... I shall leave you to your head-banging then. :peace

I can't wait for this figure and hope we get another SW announcement before the year is over. :D

some pics for the SW,s fans :D

I think HT knows what's on the line here. I'm sure they're going to try their best on this figure and not use it as a platform to experiment with new skin textures or materials.

HT is not only competing to earn the dollars of SW fans, but they're also competing with Unison (Medi/Enterbay). I mean, really HT has not had that specific of a competitor for one of their given licenses since Medi did those failed Batman figures. HT has to know that at this price point, they are in Unison waters and if their first SW offering fails as badly as the Unison Luke did, then they're in trouble.

Woohoo,,just snagged a 1/6 scale R2D2 and C3PO set (the electronic one) for under $30,i believe its the kenner one.
Gonna look soo sweet with the bespin luke:hi5:

:lol:rotfl

No man, quite serious. As you know I spend quite a bit of time photographing my dollies and I collect quite a wide range of figures.
There is a change for the worse in the HT headsculpt "look" recently. Not for the better I'm afraid. I actually
thought at first it was a paint app thing but some of the more knowledgeable freaks on the board pointed out it was a molding issue.
A lot more detail is being softened/lost in whatever process change HT is using. I have Capt:Rescue, Gordon, Red Skull and I know
that personally as much as I like the figures, the look of the headsculpts bothers me. I know I'm not alone in this, OMG was particularly scathing of
the Nick Fury head for the same reason. And now it seems Avengers Hawkeye is the same. When I have been photographing the figures it's
become increasingly obvious, especially with a macro lens that there has been a change. Not all the recent releases have had this look though (baby doll/keaton Bats for eg).
And I'm really hoping Luke doesn't as it's an absolute grail set for me.

Two **** iphone pics to demonstrate the look I'm talking about...
I'm sure to a lot of people this isn't a problem, and I must stress I'm not talking about the artistic integrity of the sculpt,
but the end process/look. Have a check around some of the other threads and you will see the same conversations happening.

I never thought HT heads look toyish, even the earlier ones, these do IMO. And ironically just when HT tailoring is really improving.

I'm not trying to extend this..but..
These two pics are really attention getters. HT is rushing out sculpts to meet their huge list of projects ....using inferior sculptors and production methods....add Nick Fury which is so much softer than the prototype..quite BAD for HT.
Some will be sterling..but these are not.

that red skull photo looks like its trying to make it look bad...in person it looks way better
