While Luke does look amazing, I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's the best DX release so far. DX06 Jack Sparrow set that bar awfully damn high in my opinion.

That being said, I would be fine with Hot Toy releasing their SW figures as DXs. One figure, every 12-18 months, where they really go all out on, and release a definitive version of that character.

As of right now, Hot Toys' Avengers line is nine figures, and we could possibly still see more. That's a lot of figures over a short period of time for a single license. Hopefully as this line winds down, we will see more of a focus on the SW license.

I'd agree with you there Tanker, I don't know if Luke is the best DX... and it's not an issue of quality, but Jack was such a complicated figure with a near flawless execution. Luke looks great, but I still think the regular sculpt could be improved upon... I don't think any Sparrow figure could top the DX release.

Now if it were a best and "personally important" rating, Luke would win... but I'm clearly biased towards Star Wars :lol

:thud:

My anticipation for this figure is at an all time high.

Sparrow is a nice figure, but for the price, DX Luke trumphs all.

Factoring maybe $30 for the vane, that means each Luke figure is $135 - I can't remember the last time I bought an HT figures at MSRP for that little. He's amazing, he's a grail, and he's a steal.

Well that is an argument of "value" which is different than an an argument of quality.

Now, don't get me wrong, I think Luke looks absolutely amazing and I am incredibly excited about him, but Sparrow is possibly one of the finest 1/6th figures I have ever seen.

From an execution standpoint sure there may be a handful of figures better than DX Luke. However it *is* an absolute grand slam homerun and it's BESPIN LUKE. Jack Sparrow can take his flawless execution and go home. :lol

Not neccessarily. You're getting an amazing amount of quality in a $135 Luke compared to the quality you get in a $200 Jack. Both are near flawless figures, but HT could have gone to $200 with Luke, as well - especially with the SW license factored in. Given that they didn't and he's this inexpensive, it just feels like you're getting alot more with Luke. You're still getting nearly the same amount of quality, with the bonus of a cheap price.

That was my point exactly :1-1:

Like I said before, don't doubt my excitement for this figure. If I could have Hot Toys make any figure from any licence, Bespin Luke would be near, if not at the top, of that list.

We really dodged a bullet with the PERS turning out nice on this one. I still fear for PERS Bespin Han....

Thank God HT has some old school SW badasses working for them. It seems kids today are all about Jedi Luke. Bespin is the GRAIL. :clap

My hope is that the PERS issue with Indy has been fixed for subsequent figures. Luke certainly seems like proof of that.

And Indy was sculpted by Arnie Kim, who as I understand it, is no longer with Hot Toys, and therefore would not be sculpting Han. Does anyone know who sculpted Luke?

Rumor: Arnie Kim :horror:panic:

No idea bout Han though.

Turned out great! Definite purchase. Though I still don't quite see the likeness in the clean sculpt. However the overall awesomeness of the rest of the fig makes up for it! And it's my favourite version of Luke!

Best figure ever. :lecture
The figure does look very good, as the prototype did. But I still don't see much Hamill in that clean sculpt. It's like an idealized version of him. Admittedly, that's a hell of a lot more desirable than the weird, almost troll-ish looking Indiana Jones sculpt we got.
