With the planet of the apes figures HT did + the Avatar figure I could really see chewie arriving at some point, I imagine they could DX him pretty easily (without people wailing that it didn't look like him & the sculpt was "off") but using my force powers I forsee that chewie would be hideously expensive.

What's interesting to me is that Hot Toys will spend all the engineering time on a Tumbler, Iron Monger, Avatar, 89 Batmobile, umpteen Iron Mans, but a furry Chewbacca is still out of reach.

I don't get it.

The problem is, the best way to do it is glue hair directly onto the base body, and that takes a huge amount of labor to do it, and THAT is what will drive up the cost. I can't wait to see someone glue some yak hair onto the Avatar body. That would *theoretically* look awesome.

How expensive were the Apes that they made? They looked great!

Each to their own certainly, but I personally would NOT want a 'real' fur Chewie.

Not only would it be a pain to keep it looking good, but the faux hair would just deteriorate over time.. & ultimately becomes a waste of money IMO. I acknowledge the PotA figures being a good try in that dept, but I'm just not a fan of faux hair on figures..

Anyway, I CANNOT WAIT for the specs for Bespin Luke - on my very short list of grail pieces!!

The two roadblocks to a 1:6 Chewbacca with synthetic hair are being able to manufacture them at a realistic price, and durability. If those problems can't be solved, then either no one will make one, or someone will make a sculpted one. I think sculpted would suck.

If they created a suit with extremely fine, strong synthetic fibers, I think they'd be able to pull it off. At that point, only the head would require the meticulous work of directly attaching the hair.

DOES faux hair deteriorate? I didn't know that...

Anyway, I think it can be done. Make the head like they did the Apes figures, and have the body be a "suit"--kinda like the actual Chewie costume. And above all else, they have to use the fur sparingly. They need to use minimal amounts of fur in order to keep him from looking poofy like a plush toy. Many of the customs I've seen have been waaayyy too poofy. It just needs to be a thin layer of hair, just enough to cover the suit underneath, that will sit close to the body.

...And back on Luke, I'm very curious to know what the pricepoint will be for this figure, and what the full specs will end up being. I'm guessing it'll have to come it at $250 at the very least.

I wonder if all the HT SW figures will be DXs? When they make Jedi Luke, he could have both Tatooine and DSII looks included, the Mustafar and standard OWK and Anakin...It would be an interesting way to go. Essentially hitting two figures at a time.

I wouldn't be shocked if that was the case. I can't recall if that was said or not during comic-con but I think its a good chance of happening.

Yeah even the "battle damaged" Luke can still just be posed with his lightsaber to represent him when Vader was throwing the boxes at him or right before his hand was cut off.

A lot more iconic of a moment too. If they were offering the structure he was hanging from when Vader told him he was his father, then I don't think I'd have a problem with it.

Yeah, or even that big window that he fell through. That would have made a much cooler backdrop and you could even have Luke (and one day Vader) in a fierce battle pose in front of it instead of just hanging upside down.

Thats an awesome idea. Id be willing to pay extra to have that setup.
