Yeah, but even if you collect just one version of the characters that interest you the most, HT has acquired so many great licenses and is cranking out such an amazing amount of awesome (and pricey) figures within a relatively short period of time that it's overwhelming. And if you don't pick these up when they're available at retail, the price jumps on the secondary market . So collectors scramble to get the figures they really want and plus others that they might want, lest they pass on a figure that later on they decide they really, really want but which is now prohibitively expensive on the secondary market.

I for one am refreshed by HTs restraint in their approach to SW, and it sounds like the attention to detail will be high, even by Ht standards - admirable.

Out of the 3 plus years Ive been collecting HT I have a total of 15 figures. So I think Ive kept my interest and collection in check just fine so far. ;)

Everything in the article was great except one figure per year. I was hoping for 2 or 3 tops...:(

I was hoping for two at the least, but if they are going to be as expensive as it appears they will be, only one will make keeping up much less prohibitive when it comes to buying anything other than HT Star Wars.

Well crap, one a year is pretty few and far between. But hey, at least HT is making any SW figures, which is something most of us assumed would never happen.

Hopefully the next one is still ROTS Anakin so we can have the flagship character represented from each trilogy asap.

Instead of SW, I can turn my focus to the billionth Batman, Ironman, Predator or Sparrow figure. :lol:lol:lol

Perhaps while I wait, I may jump back into SS and grab IG-88 and Fett. They look awesome.

With that logic, The DX Bruce Lee exclusive should have been $400 as well then. HT is crazy with pricing but I dont think they are THAT crazy to price $400 for ONE DX release. Be it two whole figures or not.

But your logic is missing one HUGE factor, they have never released a SW figure or a figure where so many other parties have to get paid.

good point there. :yess:

In the interview he said he wants to make SW figures that capture the feel of the 80s. It sounds like they are only doing OT to me, which is A-Okay with me, I'm pretty sure I'd pass on almost every PT figure, well not literally, but I would much prefer OT.

That would be my guess on who the next figure is.

Doesnt matter. Theres no way this guy will be $400. Until HT proves me wrong theres no way Im believing this guy will come in at $400.oo.

I would almost guarantee this will be pushing the $400 mark. Two complete figures, stand, etc Not to mention its a DX and Star Wars on top of that. The Iron Man with Gantry and Iron Monger were both over that mark and the Marvel license I have to believe is cheaper than SW. If you don't think this is gonna be $400 what do you think it will be?

The reason I know it's going to be way more expensive than it needs to be is because they have to price themselves away from Sideshow and Medicom. There's no way HT would get the license and price it at $299.99. For two figures in one box, that puts the singular cost BELOW Sideshow's price. LFL has no incentive to give HT the license to make 'standard' 1/6 figures, they've already given that license to Sideshow. HT probably HAS to make ultra high-end ULTIMATE versions of the characters as part of the licensing agreement. Even a standard DX Bespin Luke would be $200-ish, which is nearly where Sideshow is now anyways (Boba Fett), so HT is going to throw everything AND the kitchen sink in the box, so as to not compete with Sideshow.

The further and further we go, the less likely HT is to make 'action figures' as they are 'poseable maquettes' and you can expect them to price them as such.

I'm just wondering where all those people are that were crying foul when ROTS Anakin had a price jump of $5 over ROTJ Luke, then when the Endor troops were $5 above THAT. Now, everybody's like "No, there's no way it'll be more than $300." and "OMG!! I don't care if Iron Monger's $500, I HAVE to get it" Ummm, 4 years ago we were ready to burn Sideshow down because the price went up to $59.99. Did everybody just get AMAZINGly well-paying jobs or something?? Last time I checked the economy's still in the dumps. Who are all these people paying these outrageous prices??

Iron Monger is a Deluxe/Giant Size character with a very elaborate/detailed design with a 12" figure inside said body. Of course its going to be close to $500. The Mark IV with Gantry, again a very detailed mechanism with moving parts and figure make for an expense piece.

Two clothed True Type bodies with two PERS and two Uniforms does not justify a $400.oo price tag. I dont care if its Star Wars. Not many people are going to be willing to spend $400 on this. If HT is smart they will price it at $300. $350 TOPS. After the $265 fiasco with Jack Nicholson Joker, people are not going to stomach a $140 increase in a DX release. $300 is much better to swallow compared to $400.

And this whole bit about "Everyone needs to get paid" crap is ridiculous. Who all needs to get paid besides Sideshow and Hot Toys? Cause pretty sure Lucas already got paid when Sideshow paid for the license. Mark Hamil gave up his likeness rights when he signed on to do the trilogy so he gets nothing.

This is another aspect HT and SS need to look at.

Personally, if HT wants to go the two body route then they should include the extra body like they did with the DX Bruce Lee SS Exclusive. For those that want that extra body they can pay for it. Letting those that dont need the extra body a more practical release.

If i have to Ill just sell off the second figure that I dont want.

LFL licensing will bring this to near, if not over $400. Regardless of who owns what, licensing fees are paid with each release. Given it's two complete DX figures and two bases would price it near $300 alone (Batman and Joker together are near $500). Add the Star Wars license, and the fact that both Sideshow AND LFL get paid with this and $400 now looks like an entirely reasonable speculation.

$375 will probably be more realistic. Still no $400.
