LFL licensing will bring this to near, if not over $400. Regardless of who owns what, licensing fees are paid with each release. Given it's two complete DX figures and two bases would price it near $300 alone (Batman and Joker together are near $500). Add the Star Wars license, and the fact that both Sideshow AND LFL get paid with this and $400 now looks like an entirely reasonable speculation.

I agree with your post. I find it humorous as collectors we are talking $400 being a reasonable price for a figure. :lol:lol:lol

Iron Monger is a Deluxe/Giant Size character with a very elaborate/detailed design with a 12" figure inside said body. Of course its going to be close to $500. The Mark IV with Gantry, again a very detailed mechanism with moving parts and figure make for an expense piece.

Two clothed True Type bodies with two PERS and two Uniforms does not justify a $400.oo price tag. I dont care if its Star Wars. Not many people are going to be willing to spend $400 on this. If HT is smart they will price it at $300. $350 TOPS. After the $265 fiasco with Jack Nicholson Joker, people are not going to stomach a $140 increase in a DX release. $300 is much better to swallow compared to $400.

And this whole bit about "Everyone needs to get paid" crap is ridiculous. Who all needs to get paid besides Sideshow and Hot Toys? Cause pretty sure Lucas already got paid when Sideshow paid for the license. Mark Hamil gave up his likeness rights when he signed on to do the trilogy so he gets nothing.

If you think its gonna be priced at $300 now that we know folks will get two complete DX figures in this box you're naive and have no idea of the pricing within the market. It may not justify the price to you but that means crap when it comes to the cost that this will actually cost. You need to try and listen to some of us who have been collecting for a while and know what these companies tend to do in these situations.

Well, the money will be split among LFL, Hasbro, SS, and HT I would venture to guess. I would almost bet my life that each get a portion of the sales off each figure.

Standard royalty rates are 10%. Every DX Indy that is sold, $25 goes to LFL. Every Boba Fett that is sold, LFL gets $17. Every Hasbro figure that is sold, LFL gets 70 cents, or 60 cents, however much they cost these days.

Kinda funny considering Ive guess the DX Indy, DX Sparrow, Classic Predator, Superman, Gantry, Jake Sully, and Iron Mongers within $10. And you have no clue how long I've been collecting.

Two complete DXs in one box? So? Again I bring up, DX 04 SS exclusive, was that not two full DXs? With special muscle bodies no less! Two true type bodies dont warrant $400.

Again, until HT proves me wrong I don't see this being $400. Is anything possible? Sure, hell some of you might as well guess $500 then, since OMG, it's Star Wars.

:nono I said "reasonable speculation" about the price. :lol

Josh is right. I completely forgot that Sideshow's borrowing the license from Hasbro. So there's another mouth to feed. $400+ easily. And comparing Star Wars licensing to any other license is naive. They don't have the pull and they certainly don't rake in the same in merchandising. Bruce Lee isn't even in the Star Wars ballpark.

Congrats! You and several others did including myself. :) You're right I don't. However, I trust my knowledge as well as a few others over most people here. We're putting 2+2 together and getting 4 while you're getting 5.

BFD on the Bruce Lee figures. That was $200 for what really amounts to a nothing figure from someone who outside of his fans and Asia not popular anymore. This is Star Wars and the mother of all licenses with more hands in the cookie jar than Carter's got pills.

Now, does all this mean it will be $400? No, but its got a very good chance of hitting that mark or being 375+

so Ht is planing to do one HT star wars per year as a dx?

Unlike any other film figures introduced by HOT TOYS, Star Wars figures do not have a problem of timeliness as the movie is the Classic of all sci-fi films. “I believe that slow works yields fine products, so I plan to produce one design every year. So far, I have neither a plan for other series, nor an idea of next character for the DX series. All I wish is to produce an authentic Star Wars figure that has a taste of the 80s.” said Howard.

Hopefully the next one is still ROTS Anakin so we can have the flagship character represented from each trilogy asap.

I hope so too. And I hope we eventually get a ROTS Obi-Wan.

One figure a year... I was expecting maybe 2-3. :monkey4

Re: price, $400 seems too high to me. I was thinking $275-300ish for the DX figure with one body, and that's far above and beyond anything else (only comparable figure being DX Joker, which has high licensing costs of its own to deal with). Only difference here is really one other body, and maybe an extra basic stand. So, $350ish is my guess. We'll see.

The 1-per-year thing seems a bit overly optimistic on HT's part. It assumes they'll be around long enough to be able to capitalize on this for years and years to come. But I really think HT is just the right company with the right focus at the right time. . .right now. Come 5 years from now, that may well no longer be the case. They may still exist, but it's hard to imagine they'll maintain their current hold over the hearts and minds of currently collecting high end, 1/6th scale collectors that they do now.

$375 seems to be a much more realistic price than $400. As much as I cant see it being that high, There's a much better chance of it coming in around $365-$375 than that of $400.

Which if thats the case, Id order it through CSC for $350 and sell the second figure that I dont want/need on ebay and make a good chunk of my $$$ back. Or I may go in half with my cousin on this one and split the figures in two.

But again this is all speculation. Hopefully HT will reveal Official Specs and Pics soon and a pre-order price followed shortly.

I still think HT should offer a 2 body set and a 1 body set. I just find a second body/figure pointless since I wont be displaying TWO Bespin Luke's in my collection. I understand there's people that want too, which is their prerogative, there's just some of us who don't want/need it is all.

See thats what Im thinking. Though we are getting that antenna base too...so.....:gah:

At the rate they keep jacking the prices, in five years, whos going to want to buy a DX Chewbacca for $600? $700? $1000??? Not I. :lecture

i really liked reading the review and seeing why Bespin Luke was chosen to be the first HT figure. 1 figure a yea kind of sucks. like someone else said, I was hoping for 2-3, but at the same time I don't mind since other great figures will be coming out.

All I really want from HT are ROTS Obi-wan and Anakin, ANH Han Solo, and ROTJ Luke. Maybe also a Chewie since their Planet of the Apes figures came out pretty good with the "fur"

Thanks! :)

Yes, $375 seems more realistic but don't be surprised if it hits $400 is my point.

Yeah, but I was factoring that into my initial estimate. Doesn't seem like the antenna would be all that pricey considering the relatively reasonable price of Jack Sparrow with the huge wheel, Bruce Lee with the fancy backdrop w/mirrors, etc. Licensing costs are gonna be key, and that's the X factor that is complete speculation on everyone's part, but we all seem to figure will jack the price of this figure up over that of the typical HT figure.

Also, just read this, regarding the next Star Wars figure:

All I wish is to produce an authentic Star Wars figure that has a taste of the 80s
Maybe it won't be a prequel character after all!

Watch as it's $375 for standard DX and $400 for the Sideshow EX with a second new Slim 'muscle' TT.

One figure a year? Awesome. This just ensured that I'm in for whatever they've got.

If they give us the Degobah option and slim, non-Bruce Lee freakishly ripped muscular body, then I would be willing to pay $400, and would just pick up enough spare parts elsewhere to get all 3 looks :yess:

Wasn't the non-BD version of Luke displayed on an LED Star Wars Vent Base? If so, that could mean 2 Deluxe Bases, 2 heads, two outfits, and 2 bodies, I cringe at the thought of a price for this guy. I highly doubt I'll pick one up, but I feel for you guys.

Hence why $400 is more likely. :huh
