Bruce Lee vs. Tony Jaa FTW!!!!

Re: Hot Toys's DX04 - Enter the Dragon: Bruce Lee 1/6th scale Collectible Figure

:lol Have you? :dunno First things first, he'd have to actually hit Lee. He was fast for a heavyweight, but not that fast.

Weight classes exist for a reason.
Manny Pacquiao for many is a modern day Bruce Lee and his speed is off the charts. It's allowed him to fight up multiple divisions.
And he is still nowhere near fighting heavyweights.

:lol:rotfl:lol

Tell me about it, my friend.
Bruce Lee was a phenominal martial artist and especially for his time, but I very much doubt he would be UFC champ without 1st mastering his stand up and especially grappling.
Fighters have evolved since his time.
And those traditional kung fu guys make me laugh but sometimes make me want to pull my hair out too:gah:

This is incorrect in a few ways..

1) Mastering his stand up? Dude?
2) Grappling...?! the guy used a crucifix in ETD with MMA gloves, and a double leg take down in WOD, and an arm triangle choke in GOD, your telling me Bruce didn't Choreograph that?

Bruce was 30 years AHEAD of the world...

That being SAID! he would really only fair at lightweight, and by now would be calling the fights beside Joe rogan... ____ I wish Bruce were here. :(

Manny's awesome, and more than deserves his shot at Floyd. But Pacquiao in no way equals Bruce Lee.

Can I tell you all the secret to Pacquiao's success?

His wrist size. Yep, look it up folks. his wrists are 8 inches dudes... that is equal to heavy weight. look it up.

1] As good as Bruce Lees stand up was at the time, I dont think it would hold up against todays MMA fighters to be honest.
And he would definitely have to adapt for UFC rules.
Im pretty sure he would get it down in no time though, so its not really a problem.
2] As SAB said, he wasnt an expert grappler at all.
He just dabbled in it a bit before he passed.
Had he lived, then of course he would eventually become MUCH better.

And yeah, Im pretty sure Bruce would be a HUGE UFC fan, just like he was a huge boxing/Ali fan.
It would be awesome to hear Bruce commentate fights with Bas Rutten!
I wish he was still here too:monkey2

And BTW, its now been longer than 30 years since Bruce passed.
Bruce couldve literally wiped the floor with anyone of his time, but today, many fighters are around the same level as Bruce, and I hate to say it, but some of them are better(Again, due to superior experience, grappling and athleticism:horror)
I just dont think Bruce Lee would have an easy ride nowadays.:monkey2
But like Bas Rutten said, give him some time and he would be ok.
I believe he would be champ once given time.

LOL!
My wrists are ____ing THICK too(just measured them and they are EXACTLY 8 inches as well!), so maybe I should take up boxing!
But yeah, I think thick wrists are great for having a KO punch(I KOd a guy with one jab once LOL)
And also useful for grappling(According to grandmaster Helio Gracie himself...I wouldnt like to get collar choked by him!)
Thick wrists FTW!:lol

Yeah the thicker and stronger the wrist the more stable and unlikely to buckle/bend the hand/fist is, allowing more force transfer.

*Looks at own thin wrists* :monkey2

:thud:

:rotfl

Man I better start agreeing with you :exactly::goodpost:

____ imagine if you trained you could probably add an inch to that.

Well to get back on the off topic...:slap

I guess I'm of the group that feels MMA striking is really not peaked yet... Lyoto and Anderson, Homonick seem to have it... that express yourself fighting style Bruce would preach...

I would have like to see BJ Penn vs Bruce... ofcourse asuming Bruce was well immursed in today's MMA which would take like a millisecond and a tray of hash brownies... _____k I miss Bruce and wish he was here I'll say it a million times and sharing this thread with you all makes it all the more I wish that stupid _____ didn't give him that ____in pill.

I mean, who the hell would just give their friend a pill, seeing as not long before that incident, Bruce had to go to hospital due to collapsing or something(cant exactly remember now)
I wouldnt be so quick to give Bruce a pill.
What kind of friend wouldnt get worried, and take him to the hospital/phone a doctor?

Re: Hot Toys's DX04 - Enter the Dragon: Bruce Lee 1/6th scale Collectible Figure

Mine has finally shipped and I'm so stoked!!! Thank you to all the people that have taken time to post all the wonderful photos :)

My shipping was $85 to Australia?? I did ask for a pack out... but my initial quote was $37, so was a little surprised to see the ACTUAL shipping price so expensive. It also shipped via FedEx (I was expecting USPS) - can any other Australian board members clarify how much shipping was for them and if it shipped FedEx or USPS?

Thanks in advance.

woah $85 thats heaps, mine was $34.67 shipped to sydney. what is a pack out exactly?

Re: Hot Toys's DX04 - Enter the Dragon: Bruce Lee 1/6th scale Collectible Figure

My wrist is 8 inch too. Guess I must be able to punch really hard but the reality is my punches are weak. Fractured my wrist during basketball and they are never the same again.

I had enough arguments on how great of a martial art artist Bruce Lee really is back when I was really into martial arts (jujitsu (the Jap vriety), judo) and honestly, if you ask the honest opinion of most martial arts expert today, they will tell you he is not that good. He is however very good at marketing himself.

I am a big fan of Bruce Lee and I think he did introduced something new to martial arts and did changed it for the better but at the end of the day, I know he is just a man and far from the god that most people seem to think he is.

Re: Hot Toys's DX04 - Enter the Dragon: Bruce Lee 1/6th scale Collectible Figure

If Ali got a combo going I think he would take Lee. But if I had money on the fight, I'd put it on Lee.

If requested, SS will pack the box inside a larger box with padding rather than just send out the box inside a close-fitting shipper.

I bet if you asked these same martial arts experts to say that to Lee's face were he alive, none of them would have the balls :lol

Lee was a phenomenon. You can't fake being that awesome.

Re: Hot Toys's DX04 - Enter the Dragon: Bruce Lee 1/6th scale Collectible Figure

The answer is simple...He never proved himself in a real fight(at least from what we have seen) so who knows how well he would do in a real fight. He showed his art in front of the camera, and it was sure as hell inspiring to watch, but how well would that work in a real fight?

One thing's for sure though,we will never see a more dedicated Martial Artist,a Mastermind in the art of fighting.
