Re: Hot Toys's DX04 - Enter the Dragon: Bruce Lee 1/6th scale Collectible Figure

Got BL all set up and outta the box finally. There's so many options to display this guy. I haven't suited up the EX body yet. I'm gonna need another shelf soon.

Love this shot. I have a similar setup to this, with one figure per shelf. But I actually lay out all the accessories that come with each figure. i find that it allows for more conversation points when people look at them, as they see that it comes with more than just a figure. But I guess I have to lay them out nicely or it looks messy.

But do others think laying out the accessories (like Hot Toys do in their promo photos) is a bit tacky, or is it OK?

It adds decoration when organized right. I don't like displaying extra hands and headsculpts though... ruins the set-up and illusion.

Hey, I've been playing around with the figure, and I noticed that around the shoulder area, I can see the shoulder joint area near the underarm has something sticking out.

Hard to explain in words but you can clearly see it in the pic I attached near his right underarm. It's as though the rubber chest isnt wide enough to cover the socket that sits underneath.

Anyone else have this problem? I see the pics above dont have these at all and it looks so much better. Anyway I can adjust it to hide that underlying socket layer?

Don't worry, it's supposed to be like that :)

Really?? Or was that sarcastic? I can't tell. Seems odd that it sticks out like that.:dunno

No no, not being sarcastic. Because the torso is a rubber 'sleeve', rather than a solid mold, and to allow for a greater range of movement in the shoulder, the arm 'socket' needs to be reasonably large. This would leave an unsightly gap around the shoulder ball joint, hence the extra flappy bit to cover up the internals when the shoulder is rotated in certain ways.

At least that's why I think they've done it that way, someone else may have a better explanation for it. But it's definitely the design of it, and they will all be like that.

It depends if the other options are worth displaying.

The package design of many military figures allows all the accessories as well as the figure to be seen through the package window, which I always thought looked cool. I've considered just displaying my military figs in their boxes with the front flaps open. I think displaying the accessories could look really cool, so long as their placement is well considered and doeasn't clutter up the overall display.

Will have to take some pics of my setup soon. I try to lay it out neatly like the Hot Toys promo pics, but then I see most displays on these forums are pretty nice and clean with just the figure. The particular photo above made me think maybe less is more in this situation.

I have the diorama setup with the DX04 Bruce after raising my Detolf shelf, and will have to do the same to fit the Indy backdrop too for that one. The DX04 does look a little crowded since I have the second body and all the accessories put into one shelf. Might have to split it out into 2 shelves.....

If you're displaying one of the Bruces in the sneak suit you could see if you can pick up an extra diorama base, and have two dioramas displayed on two shelves.

Wait, what? Didnt everyone get two dioramas? One with the mirrors and one with the dungeon backdrop? I was going to display with the sneak suit, but also want to display the non-damaged body with the white jacket since I bought a spare pair or kungfu pants and white socks.

More options I guess are always better than limititations :) That's one thing I love about this set - so many display choices!

Yeh, the set came with two dioramas, but just the one plastic base. You can display one diorama without the base of course :)

I just took a closer look at mine, and here's what it looks like to me:

Because the torso is a sleeve, and not solid, it's necessary to include a thin-walled cup to house the shoulder ball joint. Sometimes this cup shifts around a bit depending on the way the arm is oriented, but like I said before, it's normal - if it wasn't there there'd be an unsightly gap.

Ahh, I should read more carefully. Missed that you were talking about the diorama base, not the backdrops. I guess I'd just have to go with the normal stand without the diorama base for the second shelf. Not too big an issue I guess.

Thanks for checking out your figures on the shoulder socket. I did notice that it moves around, and is more noticeable for when the arms are out wide. No biggie.

I finally got mine... ughh the box has scuffs in it and the blue jumpsuit has snags... should of just gotten one from Hong Kong. The mirror room Diorama has scuffs on it and base name plate is peeling... I ordered a replacement Dio and I could of just imported one that was brand new for the same price.

At least the figs themselves are fine other than a small dark mark on his right side of his forehead from his hair.

Next week when I get paid I will get another blue jumpsuit (because of the snags) and a replacement pair of pants (since their wrinkled and the peg for the button is bending).

I might want to get a new box if I could and maybe a exclusive extra body box. Does anybody have the main DX04 box that they want to sell? PM me.

Scuffs on the mirror and nameplate coming off are common issues. Not sure if a replacement will look any better.

Just glue the plate back on... just gotta deal with the mirrors... I went through 3 sets and only 1 set is in decent condition (had to mix and match too).

Yep, my box had some small tear marks along a corner, but that is very common with DX04. I dont think you're going to get any better by getting another box.

My diorama background was pretty good, with only one small dent in the side mirror panel. You cant really even see it unless you look carefully. Again, unless it's a major dent or scratch, I dont think getting another will be worth it.

I did buy spare kung fu pants, white socks, and the stealth suit. My stealth suit out of the box was perfect, but I got a spare cos I was paranoid. Probably not worth it since I dont even display him in it. I have the exclusive, and both figures wear the kung fu pants. Battle damaged is topless obviously, and the other wears the white top.

Either way, maybe get a spare stealth suit if yours has snags. I won it at auction for $11, but had to pay $40 for the kung fu pants. I think the pants are worth it, but not the suit.

I think going through the hassle of getting a refund isn't worth it. But I would like a partial refund to cover costs of replacement stuff. The figures as I said are fine just the clothing is questionable. I ordered another brand new diorama set and another waist hugger stand to have both Bruce's with it. The Diorama was 52$ free shipping and the stand was 23$ free shipping, both from the same seller. Next week when I get paid I will get another sneaking suit and another pair of Kung Fu pants.

This is what I sent the guy...

"Why did you not indicate in the listing all the issues with this? I bought this based on your 100% feedback which is why I did not question it.

The blue jump suit has snags. The base for the diorama platform has a major dog earred corner. There is paint rubs on both foreheads of the headsculpts under the hair. The box is pretty beat up and the bottom of the true type body box is pretty smashed. The cardboard insert frame has a big bend under the cutout part for the figure.

Why would you not include any of that in the listing? For a little more amount of money I could of just imported this and got a brand new one and I thought I was getting a pristine figure due to your feedback and misleading photos."

If I could get 70-100$ I would be very satisfied and not make an issue out of it. He would still have over 200$ for it.

Did you buy the figure "brand new"? In many cases, if the box is unopened and sealed, the quality of the contents is not known, so may have been an issue out of the factory. All of my figures came sealed and unopened in the Hot Toys brown shipping box, so any damage or issue to the actual internal contents isnt really a fault of the seller, but more a fault out of the factory. Sure if they were a good seller, they would help you out and give a discount or replacement parts from Hot Toys.
