Wrong type of rubber. The rubber used on Medi figures is completely different than the new rubber HT's using. Hell, even HT's older suits are completely different than this new crap. While I agree speculation on this figure is not necessary, there's reason to keep an eye on the new Begins suit.
I don't have any HT Bats so what is it, was the rubber they used before thicker and more durable?
And what the hell was oil doing in a Batman(DX) figure anyway?

By far the most intelligent answer to a question I ve seen on this forum.
He googled it.....
Depends, there were two types of oil. One was used to get the rubber suit on the truetype. The other was coming out of the suit itself because the components are breaking down.
Yes, the DX02's suit felt considerably thinner. Great for more articulation, sucks because they didn't nail the curing process.

Synthetic rubber is made from petrochemical feedstocks. Crude oil is the principal raw material.
General purpose synthetic rubber has its origin in two gases: butadiene, a by-product of petroleum refining, and styrene, captured either in the coking process or as a petroleum refining by-product.
Wake me up in March......

Best post in this thread. Goodbye, forum!
I wonder if the problems on the DX02 have more to do with a chemical reaction, between the lubricating oil (that was used to glue the suit into place), and the suit itself. It's probably the case that the rubber suit was cured correctly, but once it came into contact with the oil, it started to deteriorate, and melt from the inside out (thus creating the notorious sweaty drip that these figures are known for). Also, since the suit is so thin, the deterioration was probably accelerated even more.
But, whatever the cause of the issue, the DX02 is still one of the best looking 1/6 figures ever created. It's a shame that Hot Toys never got the QC right after having a few releases.

It was thicker and stiffer. Hence it had really bad articulation.

I hope to never hear these words spoken EVER!
